Re: New synth from Novation

That certainly ticks all the boxes for me. Great design/layout, and really powerful. Price is in a pretty fair range too! I'm pretty sold on this one.

Re: Question re: "jam boxes" e.g. NI Maschine, Novation Circuit etc

Check out these and research the specs and features on youtube. It's really hard to say what you need or want so you probably just need to try one and see. I have no experience with ModX, but I avoid anything that has a touch screen like that because I might as well use a laptop at that point (i hav...

Re: Synthesizers with awesome arpeggiators

The Novation Ultranova has a really crazy arp with a ton of patterns, and great midi sync. It doesn't reset on keypress, but rather listens to clock, so you're always in time when playing new chords.

A bit dramatic? It is hard to see what's stickied, but who cares. I'm glad to see the forum is being updated and kept current.

Re: Bass Station 2 firmware 4.14 AFX mode

Novation is killing it on providing quality to their gear. I'm really happy with the Circuit line, and these updates have kept my Bs2 in heavy rotation for a while now! Can't wait to update and give more detailed thoughts.

Re: Novation Ultranova discontinued in USA

On another Novation note, looks like the Circuit Mono Station (which is pretty much a bitimbral BS2) is already discontinued too, or no longer on Sweetwater. It was released on 2017. Very short run on that one! It was always on my scope too.

Re: Novation Ultranova discontinued in USA

My LCD went dead. I opened it to replace the filter encode which barely worked, and to get to any knobs on the panel, you need to remove 2 small ribbons that are glued down. It's not pretty, and I need to basically rewire it. Love the engine, not too happy with that design decision.

Re: Ensoniq EPS 16 or Emax II

I've played live with both at different times. Really, with today's midi sequencing options, I wouldn't want to sequence anything with either of them live. As far as pure sound sources and synths, they're both really unique and have different sounds. The EPS16+ has a lofi crunch, especially when you...

Re: Korg ES-1 MIDI LAG

Not sure what you're experiencing, but I have never had any lag issues with the es1. I would suspect it's something else in your chain. Quick clip of the es1 running master clock via midi to a volca fm. You can see it starts and stops, and plays the arp in sync just fine. https://youtu.be/MV-fWij1Hks

Re: Korg ES-1 MIDI LAG

I've used it as master and slave tons without ever experiencing a lag. The only time I experienced lag was when syncing to my DAW because it wouldn't start on time. Maybe your samples aren't cropped closely.

Re: Still possible to get a Juno 60 for a good deal?

I bought a Juno6 for $300 on ebay, and a 60 in 2006 for $450, already on the upswing at that point.

Re: Still possible to get a Juno 60 for a good deal?

You have tons of great polysynths, and still haven't quenched that thirst? I'd take a polysix over the juno60 any day. Less than $1200, you're looking at a local sale, or hawk eye ebay for a long time.

Re: New to the forums. Advice appreciated :)

You wanna sound like NIN? Get an old sampler like the Ensoniq Eps, or ESQ1, or an Emax. If you don't want to mess with floppy disks, just get a basic VA from the late 90s/early 00's. Roland JP8000, Korg R3, Ms2000, V-Synth, King Korg. Best way to sound like NIN? Find your own sound with production ...

Re: New to the forums. Advice appreciated :)

I've always been a fan of the An1x, and have had 2 of them. It was a workhorse 15 years ago, but now it's functionality is limiting, and the editor is from 1997. Things like the built-in step sequencer and arp were more important then. The knob recording has also been surpassed by the Minilogue's mo...
