Volca Dreams (Volca Beats and Volca Keys) Dark ambient performance

Uploaded a new performance with my favorite minimal combo. 2 cheap behringer pedals and 2 volcas is all you need to create some really evocative music. Check it out!

Re: Ok synth heads, name that synth from Flatliners

Weren't all the composers using Roland S760 samplers at that time? I know for sure the Zimmer camp was using stacks of them.

Re: Korg vs Behringer Odyssey

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXpxwQgiP6Q&vl=en This dude seems to now work for Behringer, but if the final version materializes like his demo, I'd say it wins in most respects. The Karp is excellent though, and the sound is dead on. I ultimately sold mine off to fund my dream synth, an Octave Cat.

Re: korg dw8000 problems

Problem 1. Could be a bad volume slider, and probably needs replaced. It's a stereo slider that can be found at syntaur. https://www.syntaur.com/Items.php?Item=4743 Problem 2. I'd guess the arpeggiater is set to receive a midi clock in, and you're likely not sending it a signal, so it's doing nothin...

Re: Photos of your set-up / studio

Room 2 looks like a lot of fun. I love how the Cirklon is the main brain. I'd probably never leave that room. My setup is similar (and not as tidy) as your first room, which maybe isn't as inspiring to me anymore, but functionally necessary I guess.

Re: Synthesizers - Where to start

That's a nice amount of money to start, but imo, spend it incrementally. It's really easy to waste money on things that don't work at all for you in synth world. Start on the low end of things. Access Virus Yamaha An1x Deepmind 12 Novation Ultranova/Mini Korg Prologue or Minilogue DSI Prophet 6 (thi...

Re: Ensoniq EPS "disc not formatted" error

I think it could be a faulty floppy drive cable that's causing your problems. My EPS16+ had a bad floppy cable, and acted weird and intermittent, and then randomly worked when I messed with it. Ultimately, it would go back to weird errors. I ended up replacing the ribbon cable and it's been fine.

Re: Moost Moog for the Buck

I'd definitely look into the Grandmother (out of context that could sound really weird). The Sub37 is also great if you have the money. Vintage, look out for micromoog or realistic mg-1.

Toraiz AS1

The Pioneer DJ Toraiz-AS1. Seemingly flying under the radar and probably not selling well. It is rarely mentioned. I tested one out a few days ago and was immediately gripped by the raw quality of the sound. The other features really don't matter much to me or my workflow, but the filter and VCOs se...

Re: Which is historically more important: The TR-808 or the Linn LM1?

I think the Linn for sure. Not just sonically, but in the way it could be programmed. The 808 was severely lacking in any kind of realistic drum programming. The better theoretical question could be, "What drum machine today will have the impact of the Linn LM1"?

Re: PolySix worth buying?

Delayed triggers happen with the korg keys of that era (i have a poly61). The fact that some keys were quiet when triggered is more worrying to me, and could be a deeper issue than contacts. Sounds like you made the right choice.
