Re: ARP Odyssey Sound generation
You're asking about synthesizer 101, basically. Since there is no keyboard, there are no notes triggering the envelopes which are used to control the filter. Screen Shot 2021-04-17 at 6.48.41 PM.png In the attached image from the manual you will see the Voltage Controlled Filter (VCF) in the upper l...

Re: ARP Odyssey Sound generation
On the back panel, plug the guitar into the EXT AUDIO INPUT jack: From the manual If you’re using the ARP ODYSSEY as an effect processor, use a monaural phone cable to connect your external audio source to this jack. An external signal that is input to the EXT AUDIO INPUT jack is input to the AUDIO ...

Re: How to get a $100 discount on Reason!!
Just like in the early days of MIDI, Apple had more sequencer and sample editing apps available than MS-DOS (and later Windows).
iOS is no different. In fact the new Apple silicon in phones, tablets and Macs will probably only further increase the audio, photo and video application advantage.

Norand Mono--WOW!!!
Check out this loopop review. How about a 303 style synth that has an LFO and EG per parameter! Very interesting, get software-like modulation options out of an analog synth!

Re: Moog Voyager old school , cutoff acting as pitch
Yes, if the filter is self resonating, then it will generate a sine wave at the current cutoff frequency. So, adjusting cutoff will change the pitch. Try this: turn off ALL the oscillators. If you still get a tone, then it's the filter in self-resonance. Turn down the resonance knob. If nothing chan...

Re: Moog Voyager old school , cutoff acting as pitch
Are you saying that adjusting filter cutoff knob causes the pitch to change? That would be a pretty good trick since the OS doesn't have any kind of digital parameter control.

Re: A nice website for gear addicts
I went to the last page and saw some actual keyboardists. Lousy search mechanism, since anyone who plays keys as well as any other instrument shows up the list. There is no concept of "show me keyboardists who are not guitarists, bassists or drummers" for example

Off topic: It would be impossible for the moderators and site admin to determine whether or not people replying in HELP! are in fact expert enough to give reliable advice. For better or worse, when people volunteer advice you always get what you pay for.

Re: DX7 dual voice piano/pad
The original DX7 has 6 operators, so using an algorithm that with two carriers would allow creating layered sounds, such as a piano + pad. I'm no FM expert, so that's all I can tell you.
The DX7-II is bitimbral, so doing layers is simple.

Re: Help identifying grandfather's piece of equipment?
Very few real synths with built-in speakers. Roland did a couple based on the Juno 106 and Alpha Juno 2, Casio did the bizarre CZ-230. Do you mean it was made in the Northeastern US? Moog, ARP, EML, New England Digital (Synclavier) were located there but I can't recall anything that sounds like what...
