Re: Minibrute Vs. Microbrute

Re: Minibrute Vs. Microbrute

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/electronic-music-instruments-electronic-music-production/881412-minibrute-microbrute-both.html mini + micro does not equal a 2 vco synth because you can't detune them by more than a semitone or something like that. there are arguments for getting both, but it makes mor...

Re: V-Synth + Microwave XTk vs V-Synth GT?

touche. i humbly accept this rhetorical defeat. i repeat from my original post that the original v is a great choice. my analysis was based on getting a used gt for under US $2,000, which is a few hundred more than the xt rack (which is the vsynth that can spit out midi, if i recall correctly). i st...

rs-505. swoon.

never could get a bad sound out of it. when i get more space again, this will be the first thing i go for.

i do love the logan. just not as versatile as the roland.

Re: DX 21 vs CZ 1000

The DX7 is far and away the best of Yamaha's FM synths (at least the pure FM ones, I've heard a lot of people rave about the SY77/99.) It's far more flexible than any of the 4-op FM synths in every regard. ... I just plain stopped using my V50 altogether when I got a DX7. v50 in performance mode ki...

Re: Roland V-Synth vs Jupiter 8

What I like about deeper synths like the V is that I can purposely set out to discover/create new/unique sounds exactly what i love about the sy77. i feel like i'm designing oscillators, as if each voice/patch is a completely different synth. the tx802, to a lesser extent (though i dig me some alte...

Re: V-Synth + Microwave XTk vs V-Synth GT?

the ORIGINAL V-Synth is 'more fun' than the GT if anything (IMO). to each his own, my friend. i know the OP has cast his/her lot with the original vsynth (great choice! check out jp-80.com for thousands of free sounds!) but i can't let pro-5's opinions of the gt go unanswered. imho a used original ...

Re: twin AN-200 versus AN-1x

either way you can't go wrong. i settled on 2 an200s plus a novation sl49 mk2 that i programmed to sculpt the an200s. not as elegant as 1 an1x (which i loved), but definitely beefier because of the an200's extra osc options. the an200's sequencer is more fun to play, but you get far more CC modulati...

+1

sy77 and vsynth are soulmates. i confess, tho, that i do miss the immediacy of the jp6 i sold. can't have it all.

do you regret not getting the jp8 sometimes?

Re: sample sequencer needed

@somebedroomdj. yup. esx grainshifter and other granualar synths/effects, since they all have a similar principle -- chopping up a wave into tiny little parts and moving the parts all around before reassembling them into a new sound. the more i use the mc909, the more i like it. wish: 1) the user me...

the fantom series would be overwhelming for someone new to the game.

sarahkim should link to inspiring youtube videos so we can throw out some ideas.

do you have an iphone 4 or ipad 2 or 3? if so, tons of fun, useful apps are out there for $15 or less.

maybe clyde's too modest to mention it, but he's a moderator at a pretty helpful forum for sy and dx owners: http://www.yamahaforums.co.uk/forum/ scroll down to find the forum for you. this is the place i found out about the cool blue lcd that transformed my sy77 and made editing so much easier beca...
