Re: VCV Modular -- and it's FREE!
Another issue is that half of the face buttons on the Mutable instruments modules do nothing. They've just put the code in there but not replicated the button functions.

Re: Is it worth getting a DX7 Mk1?
No. But if you can get the DX7S, it's basically the exact same synth, but they remade the menu system into something ALOT more sensible (you don't have to skip pages to change EG stages for instance). It's alot alot sturdier since they replaced the flimsy plastic/membrane button with DX7-II buttons....

Re: Aliasing and hardware synths
On my old D-50, if I do a single sawtooth, set the pitch stick to +24 notes, hold the topmost key, and start messing with the pitch stick, it sounds like oldschool ringmod. Kinda cool effect actually. I also remember beta testing a memorymoog VST some years ago, where the sound would go into a scree...

Re: Juno 6 for $620, should I get it?
No presets though..but the whole synth is a big sweet spot so shouldn't be hard to make something good with it.

Re: Yamaha DX7 vs Ensoniq ESQ-1/sq-80
The thing is that the SQ-80 is a subtractive synth like other analogues, but it has 3 oscillators with 99 waveforms available on each. The usual ones like saw, square, sine, triangle, 3 assignable LFO's, 4 multistage envelopes, analog (not self-oscillating) filter, then a plethora of digital ones of...

Re: D-50 keybed repairs - suitable for a total newbie?
Luckily the only problem with mine is that the G#3 key always plays max velocity. It's not the most used key on the keyboard so I just leave it as is.

I never heard about it, but now I know what that empty void in my heart has always been. Thank you for this inner discovery.

Re: Uber Rare Triple Tube Hybrid Phaser In Action (JMJ)
I remember from the VHS footage of Docklands they had tried to cover all the instruments with big umbrellas and plastic sheet "tents" but the keys were still dripping. Assume they were air dried for a couple weeks afterward.

Re: Uber Rare Triple Tube Hybrid Phaser In Action (JMJ)
I'm surprised any of the Docklands gear survived after those two shows. It was literally pouring rain for both days.
Amazing concert footage and CD though.

Re: Uber Rare Triple Tube Hybrid Phaser In Action (JMJ)
I'd say Jarre knows how to keep his gear in tip top shape. Is there even a speck of dust in that studio?

I guess that makes it pretty ultra rare, then
Does JMJ use it or did you never finish it for him?

Re: Popularity of Korg N364/Korg M1/Yamaha DX7 in Latino mus
They don't want to look around for similar presets on newer synths, when everyone knows exactly what synth and soundbank the well-known sounds come from. It's kind of like buying a D-50 only because Jean-Michel Jarre used it on Revolutions for very specific sounds. Or indeed, paying $10000 for a Yam...
