If you're able to install stuff on your computer at work get something like MidiOX or Sysex Librarian and then use that to upload the firmware, if you don't have the privileges to do it I guess you'll have to make a new friend, one with a computer. :) Cheers I'll look into that. Or introduce the IT...

Anyways, you just need to remove the power jack using a soldering iron and solder the new one. You can find the power j...

Yep, everything looks ok. Are you taking it to a tech? If you are taking in a couple of days and want to tinker with it, you can just check outrule the powersupply board by sticking a voltmeter were it says ac out.

Can you post some pics of the inside? The 8p is fairly easy to open up, the only weird part is to remove the screws from the sides. my first was a Korg Sigma, it was nice, but it probably wasn't the right thing to start with as I wanted to play chords, so it got sold. Probably will never buy another unless one turns up dead cheap and then it would probably only be for nostalgia value. Ozzy, is that you? My first synth was a rol...

I once old an mg-1 for a couple of days, then sold it. It is easier to fix than modern synths. Just do what LittleRunt said and at the and add some contact lube. You can also buy new sliders from an electronics shop. Just make sure you have the right nomenclature
