Re: Any cool stuff in Los Angeles for synthesizer freaks?

You could check out Noisebug in Pomona. Give him a call first though as they only do appointments these days.

Re: Roland Boutique

Another issue is that since my computer is on OSX 10.7.5, Roland doesn't support it - 10.9 and later. This is an Apple issue, not Roland. No, it is a Roland issue. They simply can't be bothered with supporting older OSes. That's a total deal breaker for me when shopping for gear, give me class comp...

Re: Roland Boutique

Funny! It wasn't on the originals, heck its not even on the Jupiter-6 Europa version 1 mod. Maybe Roland can add this on a future OS update. I don't know much about the original Jupiter-8 except that it sounds really nice and is incredibly expensive. Also, it doesn't bother me at all that the LFO d...

Re: Roland Boutique

I received my JP-08 last Thursday so I've only had it a few day and now I'm tempted to pick up another one for 8 voices! What can I say except that I think it's a wonderful synth! The short slider throw doesn't really bother me at all although it's tricky to get very precise movements accurate. On t...

Re: KORG SIX new exclusive products---new Electribes

Any release dates for the Volca Samples and Electribes yet? In the video above, the Korg guy says the Electribe should be out in December. In a post elsewhere, Mistabishi says the sampler is scheduled for March. I wonder if that's UK release dates. Sweetwater is still "expecting" a November time fr...

"I've never owned a Mini, but I did have a one on loan for a couple of years. Friend's dad who sadly just passed away recently. (and yes I have too much class to ask after the mini). That thing doesn't just have a powerful sound, it has a certain kind of way it fits your brain. Maybe it is because s...

Re: Hypersynth Xenophone

In the filter demo video around 6:02 when the filter is in self-oscillation I believe. It wouldn't be a deal killer for me though. Post up some demos when you have time!

Re: DSI PRO 2

This is a sexy looking and sounding mono. BTW, IMO, the P12 and now this Pro2 look the best out of all of Dave's offerings. Excited to try one out!

Re: When will we see a new (non-DSI) analog poly?

Have you considered a FutureRetro Mondovox and your choice of up to 16 brutes? I know at least 8 microbrutes and a mondovox is $2700 or so but you could maybe start with 3 or 4 and over time, build up to the 8 or so voices that you need. Think of all of the patching madness! Ok, so down sides - Gon...

Re: When will we see a new (non-DSI) analog poly?

Hey Kenneth... What I'm about to suggest is completely impractical but I think it's doable provided you could live without some features and have the space to do it in. Have you considered a FutureRetro Mondovox and your choice of up to 16 brutes? I know at least 8 microbrutes and a mondovox is $270...

Verbos Electronics

Does anyone have any experience with these modules? They're pretty sexy but pricey. Looks like you could own them all for around $2555 minus a case to house them in and taxes.

Re: Sine waves

You may or may not know about Fouier Synthesis but basically, all complex sounds can be broken down into an infinite series of "partials". These partials in turn, are all constructed of sine waves of different phases, amplitudes and pitches! Here's a quick read: Explanation of Fourier synthesis I us...
