Re: power supply E-MU Proteus MPS

Its gone off again. I suspect this is an intermittent connection problem between the main board and the switch/display board. I should be able to fix that As for the no sound issue, if i'm getting the test tones out of the diagnostic test then the DAC, Op amps etc should be ok (total guess), so it m...

Re: power supply E-MU Proteus MPS

Progress made. My DIY replacement power supply works well and looks like a retail item. It now starts up, screen works and diagnostics check out ok, but there is no sound. I can get the diagnostic test tones to sound, but none of the actual Proteus sounds. I also tried using MIDI IN. Voltages throug...

Re: power supply E-MU Proteus MPS

I've just picked up an MPS without a power supply so decided to make my own. Bought a 30VA, 2 x 9V output at 1.5A each. Connected 9V to left and 9V to right, with 0V to centre. Plugged it in, all LEDs except for one light up and stay on. The LCD lights up and stays on but the characters are all "fil...

Cheap hardware sample loop player with MIDI clock sync

I'm looking for a cheap basic sample (drum) loop player that can sync the sample playback tempo to an incoming MIDI clock (timestretch). Ideally with some sort of memory card function. I don't need it to do anything special other than play a loop.

Can anyone recommend something?

Thanks

Re: Korg Monotron Aux Input Problem

I bought a replacement unit for £34. I'll sell the Faulty unit as the synth part still works ok.

Re: Audio "effects path" modification for a Yamaha DJX

I was thinking about routing out the speaker cables and having in/out jacks on the back, although I wasn't sure about the whole signal level thing. If i'm passing a line level signal out from the DJX into a battery powered fx unit (e.g. korg mini-kp) and then feeding that back direct into the speake...

Audio "effects path" modification for a Yamaha DJX

Yes, its a dodgy home keyboard with speakers, but I wanted something fun, cheap, interesting and sturdy enough to leave in the path of the (young) kids for them and me to mess with. Is there any way which I could route the audio out of the machine, into a korg monotron or a korg mini-kp and then bac...

Re: Korg Monotron Aux Input Problem

I was going to glue the jack socket to the board, then wire up the original 4 connectors to a point along the same route as the original connection. Unfortunately as all the components are tiny there is little room to do so.

Re: Korg Monotron Aux Input Problem

It turns out that the AUX jack was faulty. I tried to fix it but made it worse and the whole jack socket and solder pads came off! Now my monotron doesn't have an AUX in. I'm either going to sell it as part working, as the synth is still ok and then get a replacement for £45, or try and wire in the ...

Korg Monotron Aux Input Problem

I've connected an mp3 player to my monotron. The aux input only works when I press the a "key" on the ribbon. I've seen videos of aux input working without having to press a the ribbon. Is there something wrong with my monotron?

Is my Yamaha CS01 braindead?

I was messing around inside my CS01 earlier today looking for usable circuit bending modifications and I think I've shorted something pretty important. Now it doesn't make a sound! I can coax a constant, low volume high-pitched whine out of it that the filter will act on by nothing else. Any tips on...

Lazy Programmer or New Synths?

I've got a Juno 6 and a JP-8000 running through a mixer and a Korg Mini KP. The juno 6 makes a good sound and is very much "fun" to use. The JP-8000 has the ability and control but is less fun (less manual). Does anyone have any suggestions for replacements synths (one or both) based on a Juno 6 bei...

Re: Eurythmics

I used to work for a guy that bought Dave Stewart's old E-MU Emulator II. Paid a fortune for it and I don't think he ever used it

Same story with the rolling stone's stuff, original dalek etc
