Re: Emu EMAX HD

Sounds like it's trying to boot from HD and your HD is kaput... no surprise considering its age. You could try taking the HD out and giving it a light smack on top to see if the drive head reader is stuck on.... but otherwise think you'll need an Emax floppy disk with OS on to boot (and probably nee...

Re: My first synth - the Roland XP-10

CZ1000 was my 2nd synth, loved it.... the first a Korg Micro Preset.

To the OP, if you like the XP10 try an XP50, a top synth of mine for many years which can give great results.

Re: Virtual expansion boards for Roland Jv Series

If you're looking at JV expansions, I felt Vintage Synth and Orchestral II where the best of them. I have these two plus Dance and Special FX in an XP50 and the extra waveforms make a big difference in your own patch programming.

Re: The Working Hour - What Synth?

That track and 'Listen' are the best on the album imo. The 'sound' you mention has always impressed me too... Ian Stanley's synth work on 'Listen' is fantastic. I saw them live in 1985 with the synth rig you can see on the video below, giving you an idea of what they worked with. Not so many synth s...

Re: E-MU EMULATOR II+ Work Log

i found mine, a HD+ version, 2 months ago in UK. luck wanted the seller was driving to a vacation spot not far from me, so he dropped it off personally. it has been previously serviced. new display. HD is of course dead, and one floppy too, but it has been replaced with HxC. I nearly bought that on...

Roland System-8

OK, it's no vintage synth but it has Jup 8 & Juno 106 plus-outs included ;) (J106 just realised in Ver 1.11 update). So, anyone get one of these for Christmas? Can't see any other System-8 thread here...... Was impressed with the Boutique Versions of Jup 8 & 106 enough to plunge on one of these. Per...

Roland JP-08 to System 8 patch transfer.

Can it be done? Can't find anything online.... technology appears the same so would have thought some compatibility. I have the JP-08 with some nice patches programmed in it and want to transfer over to the System-8 if possible. Seems unnecessary duplication otherwise and I also have the JU-06 which...

Yep, that.

Or the CZ.... lots of potential with patient programming.

... and the Poly 800 is ugly.

Re: Roland XP-50

Custom sounds are ones you've created yourself (possibly using waveforms from the expansion boards) and saved to user memory. If they're missing too, he was thinking a memory/battery issue but this shouldn't stop you getting presets from the boards. Have you looked inside to ensure ribbon connector ...

Re: Behringer Deep Mind 12

I wonder if this is going to change people's opinion of Behringer? By the sound of things they're planning on setting up a synth division based around Midas engineers, if they keep the Midas build quality it might change the perception of the whole company. Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never had...

Re: Roland Boutique

Had my JU-06 a couple of weeks now. Bargain unit, solid front panel and buttons, no issues using the sliders and it sounds great. I've had Juno's previously and was on the verge of another Juno 60 but no longer. Another is planned to get 8 note polyphony then a couple of JP-08's too. Sold most of my...
