It's been rather a while, so good to finally do a new installment of my Modular Arse series.

Re: Does anyone have a Manikin Memotron service manual?
Final update on this, and a thumbs up for the totally awesome Abacus Electronics of Leeds, England. This is the man who does not do digital, who has managed to repair both the Doepfer module (broken track on circuit board) and the Memotron (bad pot). Only difference is the pot is somewhat looser and...

Re: Oramics at the London Science museum
Ah, I went through London in September and did the V&A instead, which I also totally recommend. I tend to find the Science museum disappointing, mainly because I'm too swqueamish to be able to look through the top couple of floors of medical stuff, and entire halls about the history of pumps don't r...

Very Friendly / Litte Drummer Boy (Throbbing Gristle cover)
Finished this a bit early for Christmas, but what the h**l. Lets just pretend it's my Halloween effort.
A jolly cover of Very Friendly, originally by those 70s funsters Throbbing Gristle, with segue into Little Drummer Boy.

Re: Does anyone have a Manikin Memotron service manual?
Update for anyone who is interested. The last email I got from Manikin said "This looks like an defective Pot, or a problem with the MicroController. The best way is that we fix it here in Berlin." I'm not keen to ship it to Germany and back as it's heavy and shipping here is extortionate, have aske...

Re: Excessively Smelly Gear
I had something like that happen once with a Marlborough (Ha!) combo organ that stank of cigarette smoke, glad I got it for very little. The suggestion that was made to me was just to leave it to air for a while... I forget if it worked now as I threw it out of the bathroom window just before the ch...

Re: Does anyone have a Manikin Memotron service manual?
Just to let everyone know, I have Manikin a ring on Tuesday and spoke with Thorsten, who does indeed have excellent English. Seem to have a dialog going with them now to troubleshoot and see what we need to do - so fingers crossed we're getting there. Interestingly, from the tests Thorsten advised m...

Re: Does anyone have a Manikin Memotron service manual?
The first time I said that it wasn't a gag, I was asking for directions to the loo at a German Christkindelmarkt and when they didn't understand, those words popped into my head... I said them right about the same time as it dawned on me that probably isn't the polite terminology to use.

Re: Does anyone have a Manikin Memotron service manual?
I tried emailing their support address about 2 years back with a query about removing the knobs, as you know the lower 3 have a clear plastic disk around them and I had some little bits of, well something under there. They look like they're held on by a tiny screw that should unscrew with a precisio...
