Re: Akai MPC60: Upgrade or Replace?
Hey all, I am at a point where I am considering either replacing it with something newer, MPC Live w/ CV or Isla SP2400 possibly, or to update my MPC60 with SD (or whatever is most modern option). Other than using floppies, the MPC60 does most of what I need. Obviously, a bigger screen with more de...

Re: Why doesn't Yamaha creates a new VP1?
It has now been over 10 years since I started this post! After all these years, the Korg Kronos seems to be indeed the "closest" hardware synth to a new Yamaha VP1 nowadays... Still, it's a shame it doesn't feature feature all the algorithms available on the Korg Z1, as those can sound pretty ...

Re: How to choose your first synthesizer
The video is useful. But the question is, what is better to buy for a person who does not know how to play at all and only plans to learn? Isn't it more convenient to buy a piano? Although it needs more space. Depends a lot on what you want... If you are interested in sound design, I think it's a m...

Re: OB-8 vs. Jupiter 6?
I would love to have any of those, as both are definitely classic synths. With the OB you get extra voices (which can be useful) and with the Jupiter you get multimode filters (which is somewhat rare when it comes to polyphonic analog synths). I think any of those would be a nice addition to any set...

Akai MPC500 gets noisy in Record Mode?
Hi I had some time today and decided to try and sample a bit with my Akai MPC500, that I got used some time ago (never tried this feature so far as I didn't have much time, so just sticked to play some sequences with imported samples). But when I tried to do that today, I noticed that as soon as I g...

Re: Novation A-Station advice please
I think the differences in color is to match their current product-line at the time.
When the A-Station came out, they had the Supernovas and Novas, in blue.
Later on they had the KS-series, in silver, so they changed the color to match it.
At least that's what I think I saw written somewhere...

Looking for SSM2044 chips and Kawai SX240 parts
Hi I am looking for a set of SSM2044 chips. I'm also looking of parts for my Kawai SX240. It turns on but the interface just acts weirdly so I'm not sure what can be the problem... but if anyone has experienced the same problems with his/hers SX240, please let me know what parts I might need. The SS...

Re: Roland jx10 (others) display coil data
Can this problem cause the screen to get extremely bright too? My MKS-70 has this problem, all the segments get illuminated and it's just impossible to read anything... I also noticed that the illumination also depends on the amount of segments that are supposed to be on, so if the text that was sup...

Re: Will FM ever be sought after ???
I think you can produce really nice sounds with FM. There are some really good demos on youtube of really nice pads obtained with the DX7. I think a big difference to analogs is the availability, or at least I'd expect many more FM synths to have been produced when comparing with analogs, no? Also, ...

Roland MKS80 - No sound...
Hi I was trying to play with my Roland MKS80 today but unfortunately I can't seem to get any sound. I checked the MIDI Chanel and I am using the correct one and the MIDI message LED blinks when I play, but no sound comes out, either from the phones out or from the unbalanced outputs... Anyone has an...

Re: Trident mk 1 schems..?
Thanks a lot for letting me know
It sometimes works and sometimes don't...
And some other times it even seems to morph...
I hope it's something really that simple, hopefully will have some time to take care of that during this Easter

Re: Trident mk 1 schems..?
What's the concrete problem you have? In mine I can't use the synth section all the time. If I just use the memories it works 100%, but if I switch to manual mode or the 3 piano presets, it doesn't work as it should (seems to just produce a really long filter-sweep). The strange thing is that the de...

Re: Roland Connect - Countdown!
In order to compete with Korg, Roland will have to pair the V-Synth with the Fantom; the resulting Fantom V would be a VERY capable machine. Taking the Fantom G as a starting point and improving what's already there & including the V-Synth engine, will certainly make me reach for my wallet. I feel ...
