Re: New electro/house track... would appreciate feedback!

Thanks guys! The only hardware I used was an MPC, besides that it was a few different VST's including Massive, and a few different filter plugins.

New electro/house track... would appreciate feedback!

http://www.soundclick.com/haydnhoffman It's the only track on there. I got some positive feedback when I posted a song up here a few months ago but I feel like I've progressed a lot since then. Let me know what you think? By the way it's just a preliminary mix, I still have some more to do mixing-wi...

Re: How to make filter explosions/build-ups?

Ohhh ok. Yeah I made noise with a synth and then put it through the filter, but I'll try it out just on the synth. Thanks man you cleared a lot up for me!

Re: How to make filter explosions/build-ups?

Ok, that helps a lot. I have one question though. Right now I am just sweeping noise and achieving the effect I wanted, but I am manually dragging the cutoff (I think it's the cutoff?) on a grid from the bottom left to upper right. Is there a way for the cutoff to change automatically with the tempo...

How to make filter explosions/build-ups?

How do you make the filter build-ups or "explosions" that are really common in electro/house music? I tried googling this and looking in other forums and couldn't find anything... maybe I'm using the wrong terminology but I've definitely heard them called this before. Anyways... can anyone explain h...

Re: First house/electro song, would really appreciate critiquing

Thanks everyone!

The vocals were sampled from some 70s era soul song. Can't remember the name.

I've only EQ'd a couple of the tracks, so hopefully I can get some more bass as I finish that process.

Still would appreciate more feedback from people :)

Re: First house/electro song, would really appreciate critiquing

^thanks man. Yeah I still have a lot of mixing to do on the track, and I've only added effects to some of the tracks.

Yes it's all micron and MPC.

And I'd never even heard of ARROW!!! but I checked em out and I like it a lot :)

More feedback please people!

Re: First house/electro song, would really appreciate critiquing

Thanks man!

Haha yeah I joined back in 05 when I was somewhat getting into electronic music but I went nowhere with it because I joined a serious band as guitarist.

First house/electro song, would really appreciate critiquing

As the subject says, this is my first house/electro song, and this is basically the first track I've ever made in the electronic category. I bought an MPC and Micron a few months ago, started working with ideas and have come to this. I would really appreciate some honest opinions on this track. Plea...

Re: A few questions about performing live.

Awesome, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I know I'm going to have to learn to beatmatch and put together a set, I just didn't want to have to buy turntables and learn how to beatmatch on those, but Ableton Live looks perfect.

Thanks again!

A few questions about performing live.

Ok, so I've been making electro/house music and I'm looking to eventually begin performing live. The thing is though, most of my biggest influences (Daft Punk, Justice, MSTRKRFT, etc.) all seem to be DJ's and perform live with turntables. This is a problem for me as I know nothing about DJing, doing...

Re: The Official 'Secrets of the Studio' Thread!

Ok sorry, one more question... do people generally record individual drum tracks (kick, snare, hat, etc.) in mono or stereo? I've been doing it in stereo lately but I've seen a lot of people do mono too... any advantages/disadvantages to either way?
