Re: Roland RS-101 / RS-202 users please assist......

My RS-202 does it but i've never considered it a problem and presumed it normal behaviour. I do love the RS Strings.

Re: Roland sh101 tuning issues...

My SH-101 developed similar issues. Spraying contact cleaner on the power switch helped enormously, but I still couldn't calibrate the scaling correctly. I finally had the power switch replaced and all was good. Seems to be a common problem with these. In the days when we always got to try a second-...

Re: Knobs or Sliders?

The Jupiter 8 gets it bang-on with knobs and sliders used in the right places.

Given the choice of all-knobs or all-sliders, I would choose sliders every time. I much prefer to program an ARP synth than say a prophet 5 or moog.

Re: Moog MP201 discontinued

I had an MP-201 that I used with my Voyager but I recently sold it. I can see the appeal of a desktop version but it would still best be used with a foot pedal or some other controller. 4 lfos etc in a box is great but being able to modulate the rates or whatever by different ammounts in real time w...

Re: Roland CR78 program rhythms

I had what sounds like the same problem with my 78. It got progressively worse until the unit was completely unusable. I took it to my tech, he changed the mains plug and it has worked perfectly ever since!

He had checked it over and said nothing else was wrong with it. I didn't get charged. :D

There only appears to be one version of the guitar, so one of the prices must be wrong, and I think it more likely that Guitarist slipped up than Arbiter/Moog, but to be out by £1000 is one h**l of a mistake!

Kawai K5000X?

76 note additive monster with macro controls, arpeggiator, extra pcm sounds and sequencer of the W and memory expansion as standard.

I was waiting for that to come out but had to settle for an S in the end.

KB Crockett: Are you really sure that Tony Banks used a Quadra and P5 on "Duke" (rec. at the end of 1979)? I'm asking because according that gear site linked to above he used them for the first time in the studio on the next album Abacab (1981). However, I know that he did use both synths during th...

Duke is an interesting one. I was led to believe that the CS-80 was the main synth on that album, and while Tony has said in interviews that it was used, I now think the main synth on that album has to be the ARP Quadra. Since I picked up a Quadra I've been able to recognise its character and recrea...

My two favourite synths. :D I'd never considered how similar they look until I read that thread a few months back. But now, it does seem pretty obvious where the JP got its good looks from! I prefer the aluminium end panels of the JP, but the Quadra's front panel is a bit more striking and 'in your ...

Re: Phasing..

I think the RS-202 was also put through a phaser for other parts on W&W but I can't think of any examples off the top of my head. Eleventh Earl of Mar, in the middle of the quiet section, after the line "To be a guest now, in the house of dreams". yep. which one was it .. Maestro ? Bi-Phase in dbl ...

I am a CLASSIC Genesis fan (70-80's) My favorite album is And Then There Were Three but also love Wind & Wuthering. Does anyone feel the same as I do on the overall tone (EQ) on the both albums... The low end os totally non existant!!!!! the upper mids and High bands are totally boosted. I had to "...

Micke, on the intro and grand finale, to "All In a Mouse's Night" do you happen to know exactly is is 202 or Polymoog ? or a layer of the two.. sounds a lot like polymoog to me, but im not sure.. All In a Mouse's Night is all RS-202. Don't think he had the Polymoog then. To get this sound you have ...
