Re: Roland MS1 bios update problems

Send me a PM with your email address, I'll send you the file

You don't need a flash card to update the bios, just a computer and a MIDI port or USB/MIDI adapter

Cheers, Graham

Re: Roland MS1 bios update problems

Sent you the file. Good luck!

Actually double shame on them - they provided 2 corrupt files - the 1.13 version AND the 1.12 version (on their support website)

I think there is confusion between Roland US techs and Roland Japan Techs communication. Must be the google translator they use!

Re: Roland MS1 bios update problems

If you got the v1.12 OS off the Roland website, it's corrupt. I've used it. I got the good v1.12 after emailing Roland support, and they sent me it, which is the one I will give you

Re: Roland MS1 bios update problems

I do have it. Thanks for the info on my bad link, I'll fix it. In the meantime, send me a PM with your email and I'll send it to you. Whatever you do, don't despair - you WILL fix it, they are a bullet-proof machine. As soon as you have the correct BIOS, it will greet you with the MS1 startup screen...

Re: Roland MS1 bios update problems

We'll never know. I loaded it and it bricked my MS-1. It's only because the kind Roland tech guy I contacted gave me the 1.12 file to restore it that I have my machine working today. I deleted the troublesome 1.13 file off my computerso it would never harm anyone again. The readme.txt went with it s...

Re: AKAI AX 73 sampler input mod?

My Akai S700 sampler also has that output socket to match the AX73 input socket, and mentions its use in the S700 manual.

Re: Roland MS1 bios update problems

With the machine switched off, hold down pads 1 and 8 and switch the machine on. The display will show the revision numbers and bios number. This is on p5 of the service manual Check this great troubleshooting thread here for the service manual download and other info: https://sp-forums.com/viewtopi...

Guitar synthesizer - mythical Casio G393 guitar synth??

I'm a bit of a Casio guitar synth buff - MG500/510 and PG series, DG series. I just read a scant reference to the existence of a model I had not heard of until reading of it here in a book called Electric Guitars: The Illustrated Encyclopedia By Tony Bacon: https://books.google.com.au/books?id=vQlMD...

Electro Music festival Hobart Tasmania

There's a big synth festival happening in Hobart, Tasmania on the 8th June here, a big event for anyone here on VSE in Tassie (I know there's a few of us :) )

My Band Atomic Deluxe is playing in it.

Re: Roland SH101 - "rare white colour model"

Yes, all your replies are as expected and as I suspected. Customsynth does such a good job at replicating original panelwork you would think it was genuine Roland silkscreening, I have seen their white one and it is convincing. It's such a shame the young generation Roland employees aren't given a "...

Roland SH101 - "rare white colour model"

Interesting - I have always believed the whole white SH101 to be a myth, and if existent, to be a fake. But here on Roland's own website they claimed it was real: https://www.rolandcorp.com.au/blog/roland-icon-series-sh-101-synthesizer I have never seen one that was verified to be genuine. What does...

Re: Casio FZ-1 Crackly Sound

Hi everyone, sorry I didn't see this post - I realize its very old, so forgive me. All of the CZ/VZ/FZ series instruments have an anti-thump power-on circuit on the output - it's basically a relay that mutes the audio out when it gets switched on for a second or two, to stop a loud pop or thud destr...

Re: Alesis MMT-8 Not Syncing Minimoog Properly

Hah yeah the album is still in the works but got sidetracked by a huge local project in Hobart, Tasmania called SYNTHESTHESIA - a compilation album of Hobart underground Electronic artists. Myself and 2 other people from a local record label Cubbyhouse Records have put together the submissions of 29...
