Re: Korg Monotribe ?
I got mine yesterday but hadn't had a chance to open it up until today. It is being used as the backbone of this live version of one of the earliest great unwashed luminaries tracks. Lots of other synths in here too (Lancet, Junos A-1 and 106, Casio PT-10, M-Tron, Tetra, Monotribe). I videoed some ...

Thanks for posting. Love his presenting style, my favourite synth review vids by a mile.Blue Monster 65 wrote:Unboxing video from Sonic State: http://www.sonicstate.com/news/2011/05/ ... monotribe/ As usual, Nick will try to answer most questions posted there.

Re: Vince Clarke - 'The Cabin'
As for him, he's nice enough. It's just that the whole "everyman" quality regarding music that came out of England from the late-seventies on makes me shudder. What aspiration could possibly compare to "we used synths because they seemed easy." You might be ignoring the fact that Vince and every En...

Re: Albums made mainly with Softsynths
I think you'll find for the most part the only people who complain about softsynths not being as good analogue synthesizers, or on the opposite end of the spectrum those who suggest analogue synthesizers don't offer something that a software synthesizer doesn't offer, are hobbyists and those trying...

Re: La Roux's "Bulletproof" (What synths?)
They did a live session with Heaven 17 for the BBC, they had a little phatty, and a nord (not sure if I remember correctly). Perhaps it's on youtube. Of course doesn't mean it was used on the recording, but it's a clue. The album was recorded before the 'band' was formed, the people in the film cli...

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread
Ordered my SEM (Patch Panel) from SchneidersLaden! Decided for the sake of £70 or so (currently), I'd rather not have the anxiety of importing from the US, plus I spent a good few hours at Schneiders one afternoon this Summer and all the staff were great. Also ordered a Pro Solo Mk II from Kenton. ...

Re: Why do people hate the alesis SR16?
Is the SR16 the biggest selling drum machine ever? It must have been in production longer than any other, surely.

Wow. Definitely has a different sound to the existing MFB VCOs, though I love my Synth II. Really nice bass sounds on the Microzwerg.

Re: Moog Voyager XL
Here's my take on the Voyager and Voyager XL: - Having heard the Minimoog demo's posted here recently, and elsewhere, there's no doubt that the Minimoog sound is extremely special because it simply sounds better than any other equivalent synthesizer, hands down. - The Moog Voyager is a little disap...

Re: MFB Nanozwerg, Urzwerg, Microzwerg & Megazwerg
I love the low rent look of MFB's stuff. That shade of blue on the MIcrozwerg is fantastic, so un-synth-like. I wonder if you can patch anything to anything without damaging the Zwergs. I know many combinations would simply not affect the sound, but it would be very nice to not have to worry about d...

Re: MFB Nanozwerg, Urzwerg, Microzwerg & Megazwerg
it is strange how little information there is out there about MFB stuff. I've owned a Synth II and the original Synth Lite and somehow fell into a stellar deal on a Synth Lite II this week that I couldn't pass up (waiting for it in the post now). I've enjoyed the MFB stuff I've owned but they all h...

Re: Vermona perfourmer experiments
Sounds great. The other Perfourmer demos you've done are lovely. You've given me serious GAS for one again now. One of the few modern analogue machines that has the punch of the old ones, even if it's not quite as warm.
