Re: Wow... E

I had a couple people ask for sounds. These aren't the best clips but they were some samples I was chopping up and using for a couple song ideas and they are the only thing I have recorded of it at the moment. Believe me, it get's a lot more interesting. I'll have to sit down and try to do a real de...

Re: The SECOND thing you do when getting a new synth...

Well lately with older gear I buy I find it usually needs to be cleaned. Those Clorox wipes are a god-send for vintage synth cleaning. What’s up with you crusty folks and your dirty gear. I’m honestly not all the clean and anal-retentive but what the h**l?

Re: first thing you do when getting a new synth.

The polygamists groups are just creepy as all h**l. It's nothing like "Big Love". They are all inbred, very literally. Probably the biggest degree of seperation between them and any of their wives is first cousin. They have the largest concentration of a rare disease called fumarase deficiency, whic...

Re: first thing you do when getting a new synth.

When you have a goal in place for savings, then yeah, it does seem weird if every month a new shiny toy is showing up. I have friends whose wives leave the shopping bags in the trunk so he won't know she's been out shopping. The same way you say "Oh, I always had this synth" She says "this dress is...

Re: first thing you do when getting a new synth.

I don’t do anything too unusual. I research, buy, play, read manual, play some more. I think my wife thinks that most synths cost about $300 so when an Virus TI or P5 arrives at the door it doesn’t really mean anything. That’s not due to me misleading her, she’s just not interested. We do pool our f...

Re: Real analog or VA?

I guess since you thought the LP was a Mopho then I must not have recorded the Moog properly to show off its voltage-controlled nature. Alas. I really didn't try very hard so maybe that's a fail on my part. I made my guess off of a laptop while being distracted. I do wonder why you didn't use more ...

Re: Real analog or VA?

I find that you can emulate a static sound on any synth. A prime example would be when I had my P5 and a P’08, some guy painstakingly recreated all of the original P5 preset patches on the P’08. Many of them, as a static sound were almost indistinguishable. I compared each of them back to back. Howe...

Re: Moogerfooger cp-251-will it be good enough for MY voltages??

Wanting one... I've wanted one since it was announced. I really, honestly am trying to put it to the back of my head. The idea of the SEM and a smallish euro-rack is really appealing. However I have great gear I need to focus on and ignore the rest. Ignore it god damnit!!!

Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY AUCTIONS HERE!!!

Decent price on a microwave 1 over here: http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13036 I kinda want it but I've got enough stuff and I suspect that I like the idea of the synth more than I would like actually using it... looks like it's already sold. how much did it go for? $450 - not a st...

Re: I guess I’m just not a big fan of DCO’s

well, what are the oscillators in the synthex? All DCOs are not the same. I think the DSI statement above IS misleading. Yes they are using "curtis chips" but each curtis filter chip was different and they aren't using a seperate curtis filter chip. The chip they are using doesn't have a whole lot i...

...taking a break from soldering (oh the exciting friday nights of a parent)... Yeah I know the DCO vs VCO is/was taboo but it has been an awfuly long time since it came up and while I knew it might be controversial, I just thought I'd simply mention that they didn't grab me and spark some conversat...

Re: I guess I’m just not a big fan of DCO’s

Hmmm....P600 vs. MKS-70 is not even close, to my ears. Same with the MEK. The P600 is great, don't get me wrong, and I can do a lot with it, but in a head to head it's not as thick/tweakable/sparkly/fill-in-the-blank as the Roland or the DSI. The unison mode and the poly-mod are very special, for s...
