Re: Where is the Obligatory New DSI product leak?????

I kind of always assumed the Mopho sounded pretty much like the analog section of the Evolver with a few, mostly subtle differences. But I've never gotten that throaty, resonant sound that's in that Sonic State video from my Evolver. I assume that's using the feedback? A major design difference betw...

Ahh, interesting! Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Yamaha TX16W Problems

Are there any cool little tips or tricks you have for this bad boy? I haven't used my TX16W for a while, so I'm a little rusty. With that said though, you can get really interesting granular-type sounds using Typhoon's time stretching. Using that, I was able to turn a kick drum sample into a fairly...

Re: Promising glance at the "Oddulator"

Wow! I love the fact that the sequencer is so tied in with the synthesis. The latter part of the video is exactly the kind of jamming I love to do with my desktop evolver. I wonder if this will have midi clock in for syncing. Having those two running along side each other seems like would be a lot o...

Re: Prophet 2002 Arpeggiator - what am I doing wrong?

Make sure the Transpose parameter shows "nL" (Normal). Otherwise it will autolatch the arp and keep on playing. Also make sure the amp release isn't set to infinity. My 2002 is a little funky too. Two of my voices are dead, but I've determined it's not the CEM chips. I also can't get it to sync to M...

Re: the evolver's digital side

Good stuff, aredj. I especially enjoyed around 3:35 where you get this sound that reminds me of a fire crackling or rain falling. I enjoy doing these kinds of workouts with the evo's digital side, taking it to the extremes and then trying to tame it back some to usability. Sounds like you got the wa...

Re: StYle FLip BitchEs, Yea Uh!

How long have you had the MEK, tallow? How's it working out for you in terms of workflow and sound design (besides not having to keep a sheet of paper with patch names and numbers beside the thing)?

Also that MD with the 303 skin makes my brain hurt.

Re: the evolver's digital side

My best evolver digital trick is the crossfading wave sequence. It's a bit involved, but I'll do my best to describe it from memory. -Set Osc. 3 & 4's levels to 30 or 40, both at the same level. -Set Osc 3 & 4 to their own wave sequence. -Set LFO1's shape to triangle. -Set LFO1's rate to twice the c...

Re: DSI MoPho

Did anyone else hear delay on the "Classic Square" preset?

I didn't think the P08s had delay. So... Analog, Digital??

I recall Dave Smith had considered adding analog delay to the P08, but decided it was too noisy. I wonder if the Mopho ended up with it.

Re: New LinnDrum II Design

Aw, I was real excited about the last design. The latest design render looks way less interesting. I'm not sure I like the idea of a "Beat Centric Digital Audio Workstation," either. Here's hoping it doesn't try to be a full-on DAW. I'm cool with it being an all-in-one compositional beat-box. But as...

Anyone catch the demos? If not here you go: How come you didn't find this one: Rookieband Good gracious, DocT! Your programming skillz just floor me every time. You can get twice the weirdness out of this MoPho that I can eek out of my evolver. Aye-yi-yi. I need more quality time with my evo.

Voice Problems with Sequential Prophet 2002

I posted the following on the Prophet 2000 Yahoo group, but figured I'd re-post it here just in case someone here can help me. -------- So I just bought a P2002 from ebay, and unfortunately, it has some issues. Voices 7 & 8 aren't working properly. That is, if I hit a key 8 times, on the 7th and 8th...

The Rentals, Air's "Sexy Boy," R.E.M.'s Up (an album of theirs I find personally to be underrated and its interesting bits of synthy-ness often ignored).
