Prophet 2000 CEM inconsistencies

Hi, Not sure how common this is amongst Prophet 2000s but on mine there are inconsistencies between the cutoff points on about half of the CEM filter chips. Once you get close to self-oscillation with a tone appearing near the cutoff point and the patch is cycling through the voices I get up to a to...

SCi P2000 original sounds

Hi all, I can't sell my P2000. Can't do it. Haven't listed it or anything it's just that it's too much of a back in the day professional piece of gear compared to all my other stuff and I would never be able to replace it with something of equal quality. I tried and failed to multi-sample some basic...

Nice :)

Rarely hear the Spectralis and much less the Accelerator. That it's tastefully done gets a two thumbs up from over here.

Re: PreenFm2 Demo

Nice! Best FM demo I've heard in a long while coming out of any module/keyboard. FM has such a wide palette for those of us willing to contend with it. I'm having to make do with the compromise that's implemented on my Nord Wave but it's still fun and I'm always on the look out for another box. The ...

Re: Midi Loop Recorder

The MIDI Looper serves as the automated helping hand for the electric piano, synthesizer or accordion player. Well, this is definitely a must-have! ;) Haha, well any business should examine their potential market so I give them credit for that. The other completely over the top option (both $-wise ...

Re: Midi Loop Recorder

You guys aren't Googling hard enough. I have a Midisizer Midirex which is pretty good. It's a self build but I bought mine ready built s/h. Has four channels with an OK interface (Too much clicking of the main encoder for my liking), it does the job you want with some useful extra features. One thin...

Re: Clavinet sound

I think a large part what popularized the Clavinet for rock/funk playing is the action. The light bouncy action of a Clavinet really lends itself to a rhythmic playing style. When creating music with it, it's disposition toward staccato (because it has almost no sustain) and rhythmic (because the a...

So E-mu was named after a drug? E-mu-25. I wonder what that is?

Re: FYI: Modular Demo Room in London

I went down not long after it opened to demo the new SEM. Met the guy in charge of it and he let me hook up my midi keyboard with the system as there's no conventional keyboard in the room. Nice guy and he didn't really try to push any of the stuff onto us but we just mucked around with a couple mod...

Re: New Mono Synth from Vermona

I demoed one of these the other day. It's a nice little box. The sound, well, I'm in that particularly cliched school of people who compare everything with a 24 dB filter to a Model D so I may not be the best to judge but apart from the filter doing everything it should, tonally it sounded a little ...

Re: MIDI -> CV Interface

Surely the Moog MP-201 with the V2.0 software is one of the ones to beat now. If it lives up to the features it offers it's quite a beast of a controller. Four midi-CV converters in one with envelopes, lfos and lag times etc. It's not cheap but when you think of what you're actually getting it actua...

Re: MFB Nanozwerg, Urzwerg, Microzwerg & Megazwerg

Check out the MFB Myspace for some more demos: http://www.myspace.com/manfredfrickeberlin

I only listened to the Nanozwerg demos but to my ears it sounds pretty quality, especially for the price.

I'm looking forward to pairing one with my Dark Energy.

Re: MFB Nanozwerg, Urzwerg, Microzwerg & Megazwerg

Thinking about it, the Nanozwerg could actually be a nice accompaniment for a Dark energy. I've got a DE and it's a solid synth, after you accept it's limitations (which are really just functions of it being a mini-synth) you can't really knock the CEM sound it produces. I'm quite interested to hear...

Re: Doepfer dark energy

Whoops, my finger slipped and I bought one of these from Thomann, if I get on with it two of the things connected together could be an interesting prospect. Four for a poly is a bit too much bother imo what with matching parameters and all but two could make a nice 2 osc/two voice synth that should ...

Re: Funk/Soul tracks featuring Oberheim SEM?

Wow, with all this knowledge ambassador you are really spoiling us!

Good to get some reference points for the Odyssey aswell. Just a cheeky quick question, was it an Odyssey in Summer Madness by Kool and the Gang? Love the really lazy release on those notes.
