i have an older dualcore laptop with 4gbs thats running xp that i've run the neuron on before and have a nice pcmica sound card for it. a simple usb/midi box should do the trick, could probably use my micro modular on it as well but i think that works under windows 7 ok..

i already have the neuron vs + nuke sitting in its pretty little box but for various reasons havent been able to use it much.
whats the best way to integrate a standalone pc into a midi enviroment? wont you get problems with latency? or do try and sync your daw/vst host to the external midi clock?

i have an akai ax73 and i quite like it, its 6 socketed chips in there for 6 voices etc... dont think its a VCO synth but i havent looked that closely. its got a nice sound to it and a quirky filter - its very harsh and flips into fizzy resonance around 38-40 on the slider. not sure how i feel about...

it sounds like you have a bad midi out from your 909, i would try recording the midi output onto your PC to see if you get anything. or plugging it into a midi merger thing and seeing if the midi in light flashes on. you might have to get it fixed up.. theres a tech wizard by the name of Maschinenge...
