Re: King Korg or Nord Lead 4?
I played with the King Korg recently. I hate to admit it but I wasn't really impressed. If you want a VA that models old analogue brilliantly, the Alesis Ion/Micron (or Akai Miniak) is a better choice. The KK isn't very flexible at all. Plus it sounds kind of muffled unless you've got the tube disto...

Just played with a Nord Lead 4
Okay, my impressions: The synth is very easy to use, and it sounds great. It has the characteristic Nord Lead sound... VERY bright, metallic, toothy, cutting high-end. It still isn't good for bass but its a clear improvement over previous Nords... the sound is a bit fuller than before! The modelled ...

Re: novation bass station II noob
The BS2 is a fantastic synth. Very flexible, analog signal path, brilliant for bass and leads, and you get a keyboard with aftertouch (I think) out of the deal. Its very good for acid, techno and synthpop, but it does have some great teeth if you use the distortion and filter-fm options. So yeah... ...

Re: Difference Between Digital and Virtual Analog Synths?
Goose, Welcome to VSE! You ask if there's a "difference" between VA synths (which are just digital synths that use Subtractive Synthesis... the classic analog synths were all based on Subtractive Synthesis) and analog synths. You already know the technical difference - analog technology vs. micropro...

Re: NAMM 2014 thread of broken dreams
Waldorf said they had "products" to reveal. Note the plural.
They should have one more at least. C'mon.... don't make me sad, Waldorf!

That looks pretty cool, would be great to get some desktop analog filtering with plugins and such :) I hope that Waldorf have something else up their sleeve than this! [PleasebeSuperBlofeldpl...

Re: New synth from Nord coming :-P
My god this is disappointing. First, Clavia ALREADY have very easy-to-use interfaces. It didn't need streamlining any further. Second, a lot of flexibility and functionality is getting sacrificed here.... and Nords aren't the most flexible synths in the first place. Third... who would buy this? I me...

Re: NAMM 2014 thread of broken dreams
Waldorf's website is promising new products at NAMM. Note the plural. There's a small picture on their news page (see http://www.waldorf-music.info/ ) showing a multi-mode filter with a knobby interface. The filter shown is HP/LP/BP, so the product can't be a new iteration of their digital synth eng...

Re: New synth from Nord coming :-P
Ah, I hadn't noticed the Wave had been discontinued, I reckon that might be it. The knob layout in that teaser shot matches the first Wave. Indeed, it does. I'd GAS majorly if they were making a rackmount version, perhaps one with inputs and maybe more outputs... But I doubt it. Clavia are very muc...

Re: NAMM 2014 thread of broken dreams
Keen to see what the new Nord synth is, would love it to be a G3 but think a Wave 2 is more likely. Indeed. I'm getting the feeling that Clavia might be interested in streamlining their synth range as follows: Nord Lead: Traditional VA/Subtractive synth focused on analog emulations but with some di...

Re: NAMM 2014 thread of broken dreams
Here's another "prediction"... more correctly its a "product they won't make but they're stupid for not making it" stipulation: Alesis should re-release a small tabletop/desktop or 2u rackmount (size/form-factor similar to the Waldorf MicroQ or Blofeld, Matrix Editing with a large-ish screen) versio...

Re: Synth for great bass
The Waldorf Q and Virus TI2 can both create totally respectable bass (the Virus especially), but you may be interested in getting an analog bass synth (analog basses always sound thicker and heavier). Your Juno 106 is analog, but from what I know its more suited for pads than basses. You don't need ...

Re: Just played with a Novation BS2...
I will do a demo to show how flexible it is, and i just not agree with one thing the reviewer said,.. this synth has no limitations whatsoever, above that amount of features you can have only modular... If you read my review carefully, all I said about "limitations" is that the modulation routings ...

Just played with a Novation BS2...
I just wanted to give a few impressions about the sound. Its very deep and bassy, you can certainly tell its real analogue... its very smooth though, and although there's distortion and filter FM and that kind of thing, the basic tone is very rounded and polite (typical of Novation). Its not very ra...

Re: NAMM 2014 thread of broken dreams
What I would LIKE? Waldorf announcing a "super-Blofeld" rackmount/desktop (roughly the same size as the Virus TI) synth that has all the Waldorf digital synth oscs/wavetables and filter models, extra polyphony, 3 stereo outputs, a stereo input, a knobby interface and a sexy brushed-aluminium chassis...
