CR1/3N is the model. 3V. You should find it in all good electronics distributors (Newark, Digi-Key,...). If you don"t find it, I've just found one in my boxes while I was searching for something else.

I'd say op-amps or transistors. Hard to day which, I don't have the schematics.

Re: Power Supply problem with TR-707
Ok so the 707 stopped to dance a little. That's good news.
I'll prepare something for you. Oh and no, a xtal is non-polarized.
[EDIT] I forgot to mention that the crystal cannot be tested if not hooked to a power source.

Re: JX-3p - smellls like $#!* and battery question
About the parts, please contact me. I should have some left in my boxes.
About the battery replacement it is pretty straightforward. Open it up, spot the battery, replace with the same type. BUT DO SAVE YOUR PATCHES FIRST BECAUSE YOU ONLY HAVE 2-3 MINUTES BEFORE THE MEMORY ERASES ITSELF.

Re: MS20 Making weird noise when triggered externally :(
The crackling noise comes from either a transistor or an op-amp. Will try to look at the schematics.
But maybe you can identify it yourself because it'll get very hot. And usually stop crackling when you touch it. Warning: they can get really hot.

Re: Power Supply problem with TR-707
The R-8 uses a 12 MHz one. It's important to use a crystal of the same rating. If it behaves after putting in back the R-8 (assuming it has not been damaged), then recheck your solder joints. It's not normal. To test it with an oscilloscope: http://www.electronicrepairguide.com/how-to-test-crystal.h...

I'm not too familiar with it beside fixing it. The manual is here if you don't have it already: http://media.musicalplanet.com/pdf/ELX003.PDF
