Re: Synths and You (the collection of opinions)

First post in a long long time..... I have had many many synths come and go through my studio over the years. Andromeda, Voyagers, Studio Electronics stuff, XTK, Pulse+, Nords, 106, 303, evolver, ion, Jomox stuff, FR Revolution, FR-XS, 909, and i'm sure there were others that I can't think of at the...

Re: DSI - Poly Evolver PE Conversion

It's not just a pot replacement, it's a board replacement. I understand this mod is a board replacement, otherwise people would have been performing this mod starting in 2005 when the PEK was released :) Shouldn't be any loss in resolution as pots are continuous value changing. Just depends what re...

Re: DSI - Poly Evolver PE Conversion

Long time, no post. Anyway... Has anyone here swapped out their encoders for potentiometers on their PEK yet? I'm curious to what their impressions are. Is there any loss in resolution?

Re: Headphones - what do you use?

Using old gold AKG's, the K141's above, but as soon as money is there I'm moving to BeyerDynamic DT-110's. Although the Beyer's sound much better in the studio IMO, I don't think they get loud enough in some live settings. Have you considered the Audio Technica M50? The ONLY negative thing I've hea...

Re: Look what I got! ............Macbeth M5!

Had to tell someone! SWEET!!! Lucky man! I had the opportunity to pick one up as well, however I passed after about a week of repeating to myself, "Jim, you have a modular. Jim, you have a modular. Jim, you have a modular." Well, if the GF continues to give you a hard time about its size (the M5, y...

Re: deep-breath-chest kicks & basses. How to?

Hey guys, how can we obtaing a good combination of kick with a bass, leaving the opportunity to other sounds to bright??? Ok, I'm going to interpret this question a different way... and not focus on the bass and kick. By other sounds, I assume that you mean everything that isn't kick and bassline? ...

Ummm Stab, VSE would be a pretty f**k boring place if people did that

Re: New Future Retro product coming.

Well, not entierly true. Check the MOTM/ORB discussion going on at Analogue heaven right now... So far in the last 19 hours that discussion has been 3 posts - the original poster & 2 replies. Suit&Tie guy's involvement certainly brings credibility to the discussion, however I don't see that convers...

Re: New Future Retro product coming.

Xs owners? The ones here don't seem to be biting... Who's going to buy this? The modular addicts? Nope. Not this cat at least. This sequencer is too expensive (for its features)/boring (for its lack of features) for most modular needs. Most people in the modular camp, well the people I 'talk' to at...

Re: New Future Retro product coming.

...but I like this Orb. I just don't see how it's a better deal than the Revo. That's because it's not :) Seriously, the Mobius had more features & it was cheaper......... what the h**l????? Not only that, it's not like there a lot of additional development went into the sequencer code (if any) - m...

Re: Decisions, Decisions

I recently purchased the prophet 08 and LP and I want an MPC... My question is, is it worth having them both? ... I have the cash to keep them and get the MPC, do you think that would be a waste? Seriously, this is the wrong question to be asking a bunch of synth knurds. They both have their pro's ...
