Re: Fairlight IIx sounds in .vc file format

ok, the person that was helping me on another forum found another way of doing this. It's worked for me so I'll share it here for others. Download and try HxCFloppyEmulator software to convert *.IMD to RAW ( http://hxc2001.free.fr/floppy_drive_emulator/index.html#download ) Description: 1. Download ...

Re: Fairlight IIx sounds in .vc file format

I'm assuming I should be trying to run ImageDisk 1.1 from Dave's Old Computers - but it says it won't run on my version of windows. Tried doing it from the DOS prompt and I got something about my system being 64 bit and the programme is incompatible. Anyway thanks for trying and the info. (also than...

Re: Fairlight IIx sounds in .vc file format

Had a reply on another forum - right now it's a bit beyond me - it may mean something more to you Provided *.IMD floppy disk images: http://steverance.com/CMI/ 1. Download ImageDisk software (http://www.classiccmp.org/dunfield/img/index.htm ) 2. Use ImageDisk software Code: Select all IMDU disk.IMD ...

Re: Fairlight IIx sounds in .vc file format

hi Madtheory - I think I've found a few additional sounds. Import seems to look for "playlists"? But individual .vc files can be opened from that site. Fairlight III is something different, apparently very different sound files.

Re: Fairlight IIx sounds in .vc file format

thanks, yes I know it was before 3rd party libraries became an industry - but the factory library did change over time so there are different versions of that - I've already found sounds not included in the Arturia plugin. Plus there seems to have been a fair amount of sharing of user created sounds...

Fairlight IIx sounds in .vc file format

I'm looking for them - not because I bought myself a Fairlight but because I just got the Arturia CMI V that will load sounds in the original .vc format.

I've already found this resource

http://www.nattvard.com/iix/index.php

I was wondering if people knew of other sources for different sounds?

Re: VP-330 Alternative?

Question for you - I've been able to get nice spoken stuff from the SVC 350 - also some staccato sung stuff. But if I try doing sustained notes to create simple ooh or aaah choirs it's not smooth. Have you tried that? Perhaps my voice is too shaky and I need to use a mic preamp and a compressor bef...

Re: VP-330 Alternative?

Yeah, I can't sustain a note very long with my voice. I wonder how Suzanne Ciani did it on Seven Waves and Velocity of Love . Vocoder Hold pedal on the back of the VP330 - As soon as you hit the pedal, the formants are frozen, so you can get an "Ahh" sound without running out of breath ;) . I tried...

Re: VP-330 Alternative?

hi Z, yes I saw your vid several times - I've found it really useful. Question for you - I've been able to get nice spoken stuff from the SVC 350 - also some staccato sung stuff. Re: VP-330 Alternative?

I have a SVC350. I agree the closest you could probably get is a SVC plus a RS -202 which according to the A-Z of Analogue Synths is the closest to the VP strings. However I'm not convinced that you really need a string machine - a simple mono or poly would work (mono if you are doing mono lines). I...

TimeSpace - cosmiche

TimeSpace is a melodic cosmic journey with elements of Berlin style. Includes some tracks almost completely realised on a modular (Gleise is almost entirely Wiard 300 series) with other hardware and software. Available either to download or stream for free. Virus B keeps losing sounds

I switched on my Virus B today and it was saying something about global initialise - asking if I wanted to keep the old sounds or not. I said keep the old sounds but all the banks were empty. I did a Global initialize and asked it to load the original sounds. Fine. I got it to pick up an old midi du...

Got one last year. Not luck but 9 years on the wait list.

But they weren't being produced for decades.

Re: Emulator X3 Libraries question

thanks for the reply, the first library is actually one of the Emu Sound Central ones, I think I might just go ahead and get it, it's fairly cheap. I'll then ask the Digital Sound Factory as you suggest. I get what you say about the warmth, there's definately something diferent in character when thi...
