Check out the E-mu Command Stations as well.

Re: Which paraphonic synths have self-oscillating filters

HideawayStudio wrote:Some filters, eg the Curtis filters in the SCI Six-Trak or the later filters in the APR2600 are so nicely setup in this department that they can consistently be used across several octaves as a sinewave oscillator.
I remember my old Prophet 600 working pretty well in this capacity.

Re: Korg Might Be Up To Something.

Desktop Oddy with some patch points (quasi-2600) would be pretty cool.

Re: setting release time on casio cz1000

If you haven't come across it already, this is a pretty great new CZ Editor: https://coffeeshopped.com/cz-touch I've been using it on my iPhone 4, interface is a tiny bit cramped (imagine it'd be great on an iPad), but still quicker than programming from my CZ-1000 itself. And it's worth it for the ...

Re: Most intuitive/educational current analogue monosynth?

Nothing beats a synth without patch memory for learning synthesis. Sell the Mopho, buy a Minibrute or an MS-20 mini, or wait for the Oddy. My pick of those is the Minibrute, it's a very well laid out, very flexible synth. +1 on the Minibrute. If you find you need a second osc, then it's time to sta...

Re: eurorack/lunchbox questions

Dunno.

Guess maybe it's so you can offer a band that you're recording the "magic Moog pixie dust" that they may have heard about, without having to plunk down for a Voyager or whatever?
Still gotta be a pretty small demographic though.

Re: A modular synth or a Buchla Music Easel?

Also worth noting, there's a good second-hand market for Euro stuff. So, it's easy to swap out/try new modules without necessarily spending/losing too much money. The Muffwiggler forum has been having a bunch of technical issues in the last few weeks, but keep checking back there. Definitely the pla...

Re: eurorack/lunchbox questions

Would recording engineer types be any more likely to use MIDI than they would CV, though?

Re: eurorack/lunchbox questions

The modules in both systems (500-series and Euro) being 3U high is the only thing they have in common, as far as I know. Here's more Euro dimensional specs than anyone would care to shake a stick at: http://www.doepfer.de/a100_man/a100m_e.htm

Re: Stacking oscillators on the Minibrute

Just be aware that you will likely get some voltage droop (and subsequent detuning) when you start multing pitch CV's. I do it anyway (using Minibrute pitch CV out to control 2 different modular oscillators), and I've never found it un-useable. But multing a pitch CV to 3 or 4 places could lead to ...

Re: Expression pedal issue

Unfortunately expression pedal polarity was never standardized. All have a TRS cable attached to a pot (inside the pedal). But some attach the pot's wiper to Tip, while others attach it to Ring. Yamaha and Roland, notably, use opposite schemes. Hence your Yamaha pedal kinda works on your Roland, but...

Stop was designed by Aldo Novarese, who's probably most notable for also creating Eurostile.

The other type on SCI stuff (Prophet, etc.) looks like it's probably Monotype's Uncial: http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/mti/uncial/

Re: Arturia MiniBrute - analog monosynth

I notice this machine has single-handedly shut up all the people who were saying the market was too small for a big company to successfully make and sell decent quantities of a small, full featured, decent-quality and cheap analog synth. :geek: Dunno, is Arturia actually significantly bigger than M...
