Re: Scored a Juno-60
I agree with your assessment of JP8 vs. Ju-60 ... Not a direct replacement by any means ... JP8 with VCOs has an "unchained," much more "alive" feel while Ju-60 sound is always "too perfect" ... Plus, extra osc, cross mod and LAYER mode make a HUGE difference in the sounds you can produce on JP8 ......

Re: Is It Just Me?
I think when referring to DX7 you really must put "DIGITAL" in front of the word vintage ... And the reason why they go for so cheap is because it doesn't have a decent control surface for programming or even the option for a programmer ... Plus, they were the cornerstone of so much crappy music and...

Re: Is It Just Me?
I wouldn't tour with vintage analogs either ... There's little point live ... THERE, the difference between analog and digital IS mostly lost ... However, in the studio, a different set of rules apply ... It's quite simple ... In addition, back in the day, there was NO OTHER CHOICE other than analog...

You don't think EVERYONE -- including JP8 owners -- wish they still went for $1 - $2k ... ???

Re: Is It Just Me?
BTW ... I play my JP8/6 without effects all the time and they sound fantastic ... But it's really no big deal to run it through my RE-201 Space Echo for a little vintage reverb and/or delay ... Sounds fantastic as well ... But I really do prefer them dry ... And BTW ... Not everyone who has JP8 is l...

Re: Is It Just Me?
I really do not think a list of Jupiter 8 features are needed Diametro, after owning 2 I am more than aware of them. I was just stating that I do think that it is worth the huge amount of money they are fetching today. An OBX is a wonderful discrete poly with an amazing tone and I do not seem them ...

Re: Is It Just Me?
Then why aren't JP8 buyers turning around and selling them when they find out "the truth about JP8?" Because, at least for me, the truth is it's even better ... It seems like most JP8 owners are quite happy ... Otherwise you'd see tons of them for sale trying to take advantage of "inflated" price .....

Re: Is It Just Me?
You can believe anything you want ... First off, certain models are going to be much more problematic than others ... Roland vintage synths, of which I have JP8 and JP6 are quite reliable ... It's part of the reason they tend to go for much more than comparable synths from the era ... Also, if you n...

Re: Fantom G production terminated?
One reality may be that today's ROMplers will still be better controllers (i.e. keybed and overall construction) than what's being produced in 2-10 years ... But I will assume that higher-quality professional controllers will be in greater suply in the future (but there really are so very, very few ...

Re: Fantom G production terminated?
I disagree that the workstation concept is dead ... I think for people who are primarily keys-based players/composers, it makes a ton of sense, and, also can be a lot of fun ... But people's expectations are expanding as to what they need/want in music production ... Things like panning and volume a...

Re: Fantom G production terminated?
These are my thoughts/advice to Roland regarding a post-Fantom-G model as a Fantom-X owner who certainly had the means but not the desire to "upgrade" to Fantom-G ... 1) DROP ARX ... few champion it, and it seems almost worthless from an outsider's perspective as to what's needed/necessary in a work...

Re: Fantom G production terminated?
At some point the people working to support the Fantom G are needed to design and support other Roland products. So is that why so many of their products are ho-hum ... ??? I have a studio full of vintage and digital Roland synths ... but for the life of me can't see buying any of their products fo...
