i think they got an interesting forum over there. a lot can be learned from those guys as far as sound creation and DIY ethics concerning their gear and record labels.

Re: In need of a rhythmic beast
i can say from my expeirence with elektron is, that its extremely simple to use but hard to contain. at least with my mnm. its so easy to lay down a groove and tweak away. my problem is that i keep tweaking everything to death. sometimes i wish it was just a little simpler i guess. elektrons are men...

Re: 8 Bit Synths
if hardware's your thing then just get any old tabletop groovebox type deal and a bitrate or decimator pedal. electribes can be had cheap. i believe the em1 has a decimator built in. you could get a em1x which freakn rules in my book and save to get something like a WMD geiger counter, TSP downgrade...

why macbooks?
i was considering a new laptop. research showed a lot of electronic acts seem to have macs in their setup as opposed to pc's , why? freakn mac's cost like more than double that of a pc. whats so special? my arguement is that i went to a best buy and seen a pc laptop with the spec's of most home comp...

Re: yamaha rs 7000 vs roland mv 8000
how's sampling ease on these devices? editing? the roland throws me off because i have not had good luck figuring out anything they've released post early 80's. their UI usaully suck but the machine seems like a beast soo... still i think i'm leaning towards the rs unless somebody can convince me ot...

yamaha rs 7000 vs roland mv 8000
i've been wanting a secondary sequencer for my setup. i mostly use a laptop running live for recording/ sequencing. i was between a rs7000 and a mv8000. i can get a deal on both right now and cant decide which. i've used a rm1x and digged UI/ workflow, so i'm sure i can get my head around the rs7000...

Re: New drum machine / sequencer / MPC thing from Zoom
seems fairly 'pro' most rap studios i've seen are load with romplers and keyboards. the analog / digital debate dont interest most hip hoppers. dilla used a microkorg, timbaland's all over tritons, so is lil jon, and i remember seeing a notable producer on mtv cribs and he used a casio! seems like a...

Re: New LinnDrum II Design
i uderstand roger linn designed the initial mpc's. i used to own a 60 mk1. just a lot has been expanded since he designed it. not that he's lost touch but it just seems dave and him are aiming a little higher than they have too. as for the layout if you look the buttons are dedicated to recording /s...

Re: New LinnDrum II Design
the third design looks dissappointing. i prefer the second personally, it was sort of a cross between an evolver and electribe. now it looks like a menu diving machine which btw i cant stand. the same nonsense has me getting ready to lose my sfx-6. if the end design involves the third it probably lo...

Re: Electribes
if your familar with sampling definetily esx if not emx. in terms of usefulness i think both are invaluable. more creative things can be done with a sampler, IMO. realistically and just my opinion but D n' B, chill out, and trance are probably better done w/ softfynths/ samplers as your money would ...

drum machine help vintage vs modern
i've been meaning to purchase a new drum machine for some time now. problem is i cant decide what suits me best. lately i've been thinking of goin old school and getting a tr909/ 808 combo. thats an expensive route considering a jomox 888 or 999 should come close in sound to both and is less expensi...

i forget the details but on decks, efx, and a 909 it list his live set-up at the time in the album notes. as far as hawtins vst/ software usage thats all after the decks, efx album. and definetly after all the albums you listed. vintage plastikman is where its at album wise for hawtin IMHO. though s...
