Well Gee

I found out the other day that the instrument collection/museum at my school has the first Moog synthesizer manufactured for sale. I also found out that they bought it from the original owner in the 80s for $5000. Crazy!

No room for discussion.

I thought it was an interesting question to debate to begin with but you're right, now it's getting silly. I find the fact that people are just repeating themselves and (on the whole) not listening to other people's points of view a bit annoying. I've said everything I have to say on this topic alr...

Now, I like old synthesizers as much as the next guy, but am I the only one that finds the obsessive categorization in this thread incredibly silly?

And I'm pretty sure the synth line was lifted from Kraftwerk, but was actually played by someone else on the recording, not sampled.

I use my computer and a 4-track cassette tape recorder and a zoom H2 portable flash recorder.

If you've only ever recorded on a DAW, I would highly recommend trying a four track. I really love mine for certain sorts of music making.

Record to a crappy tape deck with crappy mics. Do not use a plugin.

The electric pianos in the second group of patches on a factory set Juno-106 are nice presets. I've used them. I liked some of the string presets too.

If you A-B two compressors at the same settings, that are both made to have a certain character, you'll easily hear a difference. Compressors that are meant to be transparent will be more similar to one another, and to the original signal, obviously.

The SK-5 and SK-1 samplers are very popular for circuit benders and lo-fi enthusiasts. Not really synths, but cool little keyboards.

The colors are so gaudy and the name is so ridiculous, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't real. Or is it confirmed that it's real?

I can't tell you much with specific regards to this situation, having only heard the products of DP and Cubase, since I had classmates that used DP, and a friend who's working at a studio that runs Cubase. I've never had hands on experience with either DAW. I will say that in my little music tech pr...

When I was looking to buy a cheap condenser, I actually bought two MXL V63Ms and two AT 2020s. I liked the MXLs better, because they were slightly less muddy.
