Trigger the Nord Modular with gate signals?
Hello! I am running a Roland RS-09 through a Nord Micro Modular for effects processing. Now, the RS-09 has a gate-output. So here is my question: Is it ok to trigger an envelope-module in the Micro Modular with the gate-signal from the RS-09? In other words, will a gate signal do any harm to the A/D...

Re: Yamaha CS6X and plg150 AN board
Got it! The "AN1x Editor" from Yamaha's website does the job. It can read ".ANS"-Files, reorganize banks, copy voices within different banks and transmit voices or banks to the PLG bank "032/002" in the synth. Much better and more functional than the standard PLG-Editor! The "PLG INT" bank just refe...

Re: Yamaha CS6X and plg150 AN board
Sorry, I did not quite understand it jet. I guess I know how to do the backup on the SM-Card, but cannot figure out how to store my pathes in the synth before doing this backup. I have made some patches and stored them into a bank as a "AN Expert File (.ANS)" on my computer. Performing a bulk dump f...

Re: Most compact and versatile live-setup?
That's right, off course. I had a setup for rock/indie in mind...tim gueguen wrote:Obviously it's going to depend on what you're playing. A techno guy likely isn't going to find much use for an Electro, and a rock band keyboardist likely doesn't want an Electribe.

Most compact and versatile live-setup?
One for the gigging musicians: What hardware do you think gives you maximum power and flexibility with minimal size and weight? At the moment I am using a Nord Electro 3 (for rhodes, piano, organ) plus a 4U-Rack with: Novation Bass-Station (for analog bass and lead), Novation A-Station (for pads, le...

USB-Drives and SCSI?
Hello! I got myself an E-MU E4XT Ultra and would like to load EOS-Banks I have converted out of my Emulator X3 into the sampler. I have an SCSI-CD-Rom, but it won't read CDRW's! Ist there something like a USB to SCSI-adapter, so I can import my banks directly from a memorystick? Or would it make sen...

Synthesizers and Hardware for I-Phone / I-Pad
Seeing the Akai Synth-Station-App and -Controller makes me think of what potantial lies in I-Phones and I-Pads, combined with dedicated hardware: Where are the limitations (costs, CPU-power)? What products are there on the market today? Is Akai going to push this further? What could a dream-synth an...

sampling-groovebox-sequencer-workstation
Some questions concerning loop-based sampling and prase-sequencing: 1. Is the Yamaha RS7000 a fusion of the SU700 and the RM1x? 2. Are Akai MPC- or Roland MC-Boxes the better deal? Why? 3. Where lies the power of looper-pedals? 4. Is time-stretching and bpm-matching of sampled loops a standard in mo...

Re: Yamaha DX 7 Vs Roland JV-1080
I would go for the Korg DW/EX-8000, if you want to get just one synth for all "80s"-stuff. A Yamaha TX81Z (FM), a Roland MKS-50 (Analog) and a Roland D-110 ("LA-Synthesis") might give you a nice, inexpensive combination too. For the "natural sounds" get a vintage hardware sampler. Romplers (like the...

Re: Emulator X3: Multisamples with time expansion/compressio
So, what's the deal with Emulator X? Still in development? I never got around to upgrading from v2. Worth it? I guess "twista loop" to automatically generate different loops out of a sampled piece of music is a new feature of the X2 and X3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQvZDbqqHec That's what E-M...

Re: Export multisamples from Emulator X3 to a hardware sampl
yes, those exports can be read by an EIV sampler. Nice :D . What would be a reasonable price for an E5000 Ultra? RAM-expansions can be found quite cheap at ebay. The EVI-samplers (there are quite a few different models and different operating systems, as far as I can see) go for 350 Dollars and mor...

Export multisamples from Emulator X3 to a hardware sampler?
Another Emulator X3 question: The X3 software seems to be somewhat compatible with the E-MU EIV-samplers (you do not need a file converter to import samples from an EIV into the X3). Is there a way I could export my multisampled sounds (presets) into a piece of EIV hardware? This would mean: Use the...
