Re: Using Omniflop to copy EPS16+ disk for use in Translator

I have managed to resolve this issue. The RAW Ensoniq image file needed to be placed in to the Translator 6 "Images folder" and it now works fine. I have been able to convert some EPS16+ raw images to Akai format.

Re: Using Omniflop to copy EPS16+ disk for use in Translator

Once i've used Omniflop to read an Ensoniq EPS16+ disk, which is the correct image type to select and save it to? Amongst a few others there are options for "Akai S-series image .AKAI" and "Roland S50 image .s50" , but no option to save as an "Ensoniq image" type. There is one option called "Standar...

Using Omniflop to copy EPS16+ disk for use in Translator?

I am trying to copy some EPS16+ floppy disks to use them in Translator 6 and I am using Omniflop to first read the EPS16+ floppies. It does this fine, and auto-dectects the Ensoniq EPS16+ disk format, but the issue is when I come to write the floppy disk to HD, there is no Ensoniq format listed in t...

Re: Recreating the D-50's "Soundtrack" patch

Very interesting updates, and good that you've been able to use the D50 plug-in for some additional help. So the patch uses PWM, which the XV5080 lacks. Would this help in anyway? How to achieve PWM on Roland’s SuperJV / XP and XV series Here's a JD990 (which lacks PWM) doing the D50 Soundtrack patc...

Re: Ensoniq Mirage sample library?

Does the EPS16+ "Mirage import" function load in every sample and patch settings exactly as the sounds are on the Mirage? I have some original Mirage floppies that i'm using with my EPS16+, but i've been told that some Mirage sounds have the option to load in four variations of the same patch....? I...

Re: Ensoniq Mirage sample library?

The real answer is to use DOS to write the EDM to a floppy and then re-image it. It's not that it's impossible to convert EDM to IMG as the format is documented, but you'd have to write a utility. I've read that to go from img to edm (for use with the HXC application) it's a simple matter of renami...

Re: Ensoniq Mirage sample library?

I have some Mirage sounds in both img and edm format, and i'd like to write these to actual floppy disks for use with an EPS16+ (using the load Mirage sound command) I see that Omniflop and Windows XP can write the img files to floppy, and they will then work in the EPS16+. But it seems that edm fil...

Re: D-50 Sound Track Patch on Super JV?

Here's an audio demo of the SoundNight 1 patch (misspelled "SoundNigth <1>" in the bank): http://synthmania.com/Roland%20JD-990/Audio/JD-990%20''SoundNight%201''%20patch%20demo.mp3 Many thanks for this Paolo !! The JD990 version does lack a little "oommphh", but its closer to the D50 original than ...

Re: Mac USB3 compatible MIDI Interfaces?

The Edirol interfaces work fine with USB 3 ports, and Roland have updated drivers for OSX 10.9 + 10.10.
So UM880, UM550, UM-ONE Mk2 all work fine.

Insert effects with a Mackie 1604 VLZ3?

I'm having a bit of trouble trying to set up an effects unit (MPX1) with a Mackie 1604 VLZ3, so that I use it's effects as inserts. I already have a Quadraverb set up on the VLZ3 using "AUX send" and "stereo returns" which is the ideal way for reverb, delay effects. But I want to use the MPX1's chor...

Love TD... my favorite band of all time.. er well music up to 87 anyway.

Here's a pic of the EEH CM4 sequencer. Both Edgar and Johannes were using these for the Poland Dec 83 concert, and for some other shows around that time.

Re: Broken Mackie 1604 VLZ3 channel?

Mine was actually 1642 VLZ but this link describes the 1604 also had issues w/ ribbon cables and intermittent channel issues. We used to have some old threads about this here on VSE but it appears they went to the graveyard. I'd like to state again I do have full faith in Mackie products and it is ...

Re: Broken Mackie 1604 VLZ3 channel?

The wire harness cables they used for that model were a bad batch. I've searched the net, but not found any extra info on the bad batch of cables in the VLZ3. Do you have any links, or tell me where you heard about this please? Will give me more ammunition when i try to get a warranty repair. Thanks
