Re: Modelling a guitar's dynamics - Reaktor? Anything else?
one thing you could do in a modular environment that you couldn't do elsewhere is run a sample of a guitar pluck through an envelope follower, then record the output of the envelope follower and use that as your attack/decay.

Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued
the sub phatty is more synth for less money.
seriously, who thought putting only 4 knobs and no noise source on a monosynth priced at over 1k was a good idea?

Re: Nord Lead 4 Coming to Musikmesse
I just want a 2x with a second filter, maybe another envelope, and a more complex osc section.
a little bit of basic fx (reverb + delay maybe?) would make it perfect.

Re: Bitwig Studio
This does have features live does not (for example, the way per note automation and such is handled).
The integration between clip and arrange also looks less jankey (especially with dual monitor support to show both views at once...)

Re: Analogue Solutions subculture and the world of CV/Modula
there's an entire format of 3u high modules with 3.5mm jacks called 'eurorack' which includes a huge variety of modules from all sorts of manufacturers such as makenoise, intellijel, doepfer, and tiptop audio (and many many more which I am not naming here because it would be too many to list). Lots ...

Re: Moog new "Little Secret"
ram speed essentially doesn't matter for procedural synthesis within reason, and you could only do one core per note if there were no monophonic real time processing at all post-voicemixing (so any effects would have to be per voice, which would ruin any gain you get from splitting up voices in such...

Re: Moog new "Little Secret"
the iPad is only as powerful as a computer from 2003 Nope. Oh sorry, it's actually far less powerful, as in 2003 you could get a pentium 4 with clock speed of 3.0 GHz while the iPad 2 has two cores of 1GHz each (and at least with the current state of DSP synthesis anything that has to be in sync re...

Re: Modern analog beasts for under $1000
I don't get it. Is that a spambot post? Why does it list a ton of non-synth stuff?
My suggestion would be a doepfer dark energy. It's a perfect analog starter kit which is modular, includes midi to cv, and can be expanded with eurorack anytime.

Re: Moog new "Little Secret"
Mitch, did you have decent audio I/O connected to anything, or was it the onboard speaker and headphones? Yup. Used a camera connection kit and class complaint audio interface into the same studio monitors I use with my computer (admittedly not amazing, but not shitty stereo or 'computer' speakers)...
