Re: Old jomox machines vs new

Thanks for the advice - so in your opinion the new machines do replace the old ones? I have to admit i don't know what an acidlab miami is but i'll go have a look... Just to clarify, i'm not talking about sound 'quality', but about each machines particular character - i find the airbase has much mor...

Old jomox machines vs new

Hiya, I have an old xbase09 and an airbase99 and was thinking of swapping the two for an 888 or 999 but i'm a little concerned how the new machines sound and aren't able to demo them being a northern monkey. My concern is because i find the old airbase and xbase sound very different, with the airbas...

Roland JP-8080 Vs Korg MS2000R

Hi, I'm looking at these units as i want a rack unit with some vocal/external audio processing. The Roland seems to go for about £100 more than the Korg, but have more audio processing features i think whereas the Korg just has a simple vocoder. Having said that I don't have a proper Korg synth (jus...

Loading a Cubase device panel

Hi, I posted this in general synths (soz mod!) but its more a software question; I found a nice editor for my SCI six-trak synth (xml format) but cannot get it to load in Cubase SX2. It's a nice graphical editor with all the synths parameters on it just like the ones for plug-in synths. I've had a r...

Which sound module for 'real' instrument sounds?

Just got a PM warning from the moderator for posting in the wrong section again!, oh dear -here we go again hopefully in the right section... I need a module that can do good piano/orchestral/'real' instrument sounds - just a preset box that sounds good; don't want a powerful sampler or anything wit...

does old stuff just sound better?!

is it just me or does the really old stuff just sound better? I've had a few synths from old 70's CS stuff to jupiters to new analogue DSI stuff and am swapping stuff around like mad at the minute. Seems the older, the juicier! Nothing seems to match my older synths (eg CS, early SH) for basic fatne...

MKS-80 envelope reset

Can anybody explain to me how this works? I thought that the envelopes would reset at the start of each new note anyway?

cheers, Dan

MKS-80 envelope reset function

Have to admit I don't really get what this does! I would have thought the envelope would always reset on a new note? I could understand if it was an LFO reset.

Can anyone explain what it is?

cheers

MKS80 queries

Hi, I've just got an MKS80 and wondered if any owners could tell me if the following are faults (it was sold to me as 100% working) There's no backlight - should there be? (manual doesn't mention backlight) The output level switch doesn't seem to do anything (i'm using the XLR outs) -does this only ...

Which sampler/rompler?

I've been looking at getting a sampler/rompler to use for all my sampling duties (minimal) and realistic instrument sounds, particularly orchestral (strings/pianos) Basic sampling functionality would be adequate - i don't need a state of the art sampler (i currently don't even own one!) I want somet...

Re: Easy to program Oberheim

Wicked! thats like oberheims version of Rolands PG boxes! I never knew they existed - how much we talking?

I was just about to ask about using a doepfer drehbank or similar to program the 1000/6 but this must be a doddle to implement?

cheers

forgot to ask this of any MKS80 owners - should the display be backlit, and does the output level switch function when you are using the XLR outs?

Re: Matrix 6 or 1000?

Surely its no easier front the front panel on the 6 than on-screen for the 1000? (one para at a time) I had a sequential multitrak a while back and even found that interface frustrating! I'm more concerned about the overall tonal quality, if there is any difference... As i said though i know nada ab...
