Re: Rare :: SH-101 :: Army Green

The green ones were simply not ripe, when they were picked from the factory.

"Do They Know It's Christmas" on Animoog and Voyager

Here's an arrangement of Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas," performed on Moog's Animoog and Voyager synthesisers. http://soundcloud.com/w2studios/do-they-know-its-christmas I recorded this for Moog Music's 2011 Animoog Holiday Song Contest. If you like the track, please, either click LIKE on ...

Re: Well this is a stupid cartoon.

Sound designers, and the context they're dealing with, decide what synth sounds better, not synths themself. That basically levels all 'versus threads', ever.. :lol: Analog, unless it's modular, is worthless to a sound designer. Analog is a timbral choice, not a functional choice. Frank Serafine an...

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

that being said, im not making any decisions yet based on a single demo. also, at least partly, im guessing it just may be the difference in how they were set. if they ain't calibrated the same way, the same position of a resonance knob, for example, doesnt mean youre actually getting the same ammo...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

Ask and you shall receive... Tinkering a bit this afternoon, I threw together a quick a demo, comparing the new and original SEMs. I created six different patches, which I programmed on both SEMs. Panning each SEM hard in opposite directions, I placed the new SEM on the left channel and the original...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

No two SEMs that I have played sound exactly alike. Close. Really close even. But never identical. I've programmed patches on X-Voices, and, although I got each SEM close, I never got them to be completely the same. Surely, some of that is the nature of trying to fine-tune knobs by ear and eye. But,...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

I received mine (a CV version) yesterday. First impressions... Soundwise, it is a SEM. Not just SEM-like. It's a SEM. And I say that after having set-up identical patches on my original SEM and the new one. Appearancewise, the panel is identical enough to the original that it could be a drop-in repl...

Re: Keys ID please

Focusing in on a couple of other points...

Are you sure that the "WORST" Minimoog was not simply programmed to be thin? You know that Minis can sound thin, right?

A keytar on a stand?! If they don't know that a keytar is to be worn, then maybe they don't know how to program a Mini.
