Re: Downsizing - versatile polysynth

Roland V-Synth 2.0 (keep - nothing quite like it) Yes, nothing that has all of that in one box it's true... but Time Machine Pro in Kontakt can do the same timestretching thing, and arguably with more ease and flexibility, and it can be as smooth or as glitchy as you like... and you can layer that ...

Re: Korg T3 oscillator sounds (raw) missing

OK, that's progress. Should be fairly straightforward to check all the address lines. Alternatively, if you are not averse to plugins, you could replace it with the M1 plugin. It includes all of the T series PCMs, plus all of the cards. I don't know if it will load T series SysEx. It does load M1 Sy...

Re: Korg T3 oscillator sounds (raw) missing

First you said 200, now you're saying 197. This says there are 190 multisounds and 85 drum sounds, but it's still a bit vague: http://www.muzines.co.uk/articles/korg-t1/187 I do remember that the DWGS sounds are last, no more PCMs after those. Is there an actual list of the waveforms and there names...

Re: A good all purpose 70s string machine clone VSTi?

I think VSM is great, it's got everything. I've seen people complain that it doesn't have the synchronous clocking that a real stringer would have, but that's dumb because most of the time you're putting it through the chorus as well, which is not synchronous. Stringers are the one thing that it's V...

Re: What happened to Kurzweil?

Arguably they're all dated. I think the Forte 88 competes well with the Korg Kronos or similar offerings from Roland and Yamaha. All of these are basically the same architecture they introduced 15 to 20 years ago, but with more memory, computing power etc. etc. They all have big sampling engines, FM...

Re: Yamaha mt4x recording issue

My guess is you are confused between monitoring during recording, and monitoring the mix back off tape. The machine has several useful options so you should consult the manual. Quick steps: 1. Make sure each channel is set either to "Tape" for playback and "Mic/ Line" for recording. 2. When all chan...

Re: Transplanting synthesizer parts

You'd need to look at the service manual and schematics, to see where you can "clip out" the signals you want. You will probably want to think about buffering outputs that don't have buffers where you are "clipping out" from. Likely someone has figured this out for the Axxe already, so you may want ...

Re: Midi patchbay???

Desmond is spot on. You could just get another MIDI interface, chain multiple USB so then you can still have each synth on its own 16 i/o MIDI port. Are you really gonna use the D-110 multi-timbral though? Isn't it a kinda bad synth, and not in a good way?

Re: Transplanting synthesizer parts

You're better off seeing if there are modifications available for the Axxe. To give you direct VCO outs, and other facilities. It is a lot of work to break a synth like that into its sections. To answer your question, it is totally possible. The audio and CV signals are pretty much the same on all a...

Re: Korg T3, how do I play with different sounds?

The problem you're having is not model specific. It's more age related. But totally solveable :) 1. You'll need a MIDI interface. Don't buy a generic/ unbranded one. Go for Alesis or Roland or M Audio. 2. Read this: https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/how-do-i-send-and-receive-sysex-on-pc-...

Re: Musicianship and electronic music

one thing I don't like is that it's given synth makers an excuse to skip having a keyboard. I see this differently. My preference is to have one decent weighted keyboard for actual playing. You can spend money on a good action that you like, and not wastefully duplicate it for every synth. I like t...
