Re: Roland D-5 Keyboard scanning problem, need help.

Rasputin is right. I think first thing would be to check that diodes (and any resistors) and the board is OK at that F1 key. After that, this kind of fault can be caused by the keyboard not being seated back in to the unit properly, causing a (temporary) short or breaking a cable. A part of the boar...

Almost all of the factory library is in the extra PCM cards in the Korg M1 plugin.

Re: Iomega SCSI ZIP 100 with a CASIO FZ-20M

OP already has an FZ-20M though. The Ultrsatan is Atari only whereas SCS2SD V5 is tested and reported working with the FZ-20M: "Casio FZ-20M Requires TERMPWR jumper. The manual shows the pin25 of the DB25 connector is "not connected". May require scsi2sd-config --apple flag" https://www.codesrc.com/...

In practice one can ask to swap the transformer with someone in the USA or Japan who probably have the european version (or viceversa).
That's a very good idea!

Re: Yamaha DX7 Unwanted Explosion Distortion?????

Seeing as it got gradually worse over time, check capacitors in the audio or summing path. I don't know for sure. You will have to check in the service manual.

I don't know what you mean. I'm pretty sure all the MIDI sysex documentation I've read was in conjunction with tea, and since I'm in the UK, also, you know, a lot of rain...

Re: Yamaha Cp-30 Buzzing

It's probably a component failure in that section, most likely a capacitor and/ or an IC (they're CMOS so will be failing by now) but the question is too basic, and I don't know the circuit, so I'll give you a general answer. Yamaha provide all of their old service manuals and schematics for free. T...

Re: battery change - why losing data? - connect a temporary battery in parallel

So, why relying on Sysex or Midi? (we know these aren't that reliable). Who is we? What's your evidence for this claim? Any feedback from the experts out there? Yes. SysEx is part of the MIDI system, a system established in 1982 and still in use today. the longevity alone is good evidence that it i...

It would have been better to say that it could be done, but requires specialty equipment. However, I do agree with the sentiment that buying a pre-burned chip is going to be a lot more straightforward, especially for a one-off upgrade.
Agreed.

Well, it's definitely a fantastic sound. SSM filters + that Korg delay unit = dark magic.
It's not the SSM it's the Korg NJM-2069. Even better :)

Anything from nothing, to: random noises, excessive hum or buzz or hiss from the outputs, glitchy display, no display, totally non-functional, overheating, slowly destroying hard to replace components, etc. In short: it's risky.

With the Juno there might be a worry about the power supply capacitors having dried out from lack of use. Since the other three machines all use wall warts, that's not an issue.
Why not? Wall warts have capacitors too.
