Re: Waldorf Stromberg

"I think it will come out when we Blofeld users are finally happy with the operating system and their small team of developers is given a chance to focus on the next project." Good luck waiting. I had a blast waiting for the finished OS for the Microwave XTK and despite years of promises... it never...

Re: Novation Supernova II

im sure you are right about Focusrite acquiring them. I sure wish they'd do more with the synth engines they acquired.

multi-timbral soft synths

So... I'm looking to eventually replace the Novation KS4 and Alesis Ion I'm using live with soft synths. Maybe it's just where I have been looking but it's seems to be the case that soft synths aren't really supporting traditional multitimbral setups or anything. I know you can have multiple instanc...

Re: What is your live set up?

My live synth setup is as follows: Novation KS4 Alesis Ion Laptop Sonar 7 M-Audio Fast Track Pro Deltex stand. Use/routing: Sonar is used for very minor rhythmic backing elements, program changes and click for the drummer. Ion goes into the external in on the Novation and use one of the Novations pa...

I've got an M-Audio 8X8 on my PC running XP SP3 and it's been GOLD. I've had it for about 6 months now and no issues whatsoever... prior to this I had several M-Audio 2X2 and while they also worked well.. I just wanted to stream line a bit. Really though... it's been awesome. It seems to me the peop...

"The problem wasn't the knobs themselves, but too sensitive software, so the synth would "edit itself" occasionally" It's true they addressed a partial fix via software but there was also a number of units with faulty encoders released. I bought my Ion when they were immediately released and despite...

REALLY easy. You've got a set of screws around the parameter (2 on the sides, 5 in the back lip and one in the center of the chasis). The top literally lifts off at that point only connected by a ribbon cable. A PCB, a separate power supply and the keybed are attached to the chasis while the knobs a...

I think I need to on principle... it's like the 3rd time I have had that stuff mentioned to me! I did get some generic contact cleaner from the local radio shack... probably 409 in an Aerosol can with my luck but it did fix my volume knob issue. Didn't help another problem knob but I'm thinking this...

"Even with a good midi controller with knobs/sliders, it's not quite the same, and it gets extremely tedious when I use a mouse to turn knobs and move sliders around. It's like having one finger on one arm. " I agree entirely. I don't dislike softsynths but I certainly don't enjoy using them.. but I...
