Re: Siel DK 600 not responding, possible OS failure?
Spav, thanks a million. That's a ton of useful tips right there. I'll borrow a DVM and get to it. If that doesn't do the trick I'll see if i can't dig up some EPROMS (ebay, craigslist?) and take advantage of your generous offer to burn them. Thanks again, this is what makes this forum such an asset!

Re: roland jupiter 4 issues
I'm having my JP-4 serviced next week, it's been faulty ever since I bought it off eBay (of course it was also in "perfect" working condition #-o ) a few years ago. They really are some delicate beasts... Can't offer much in terms of advice, but you have my sympathy and understanding! Try the tech s...

Re: Siel DK 600 not responding, possible OS failure?
Hey guys, Thanks for stopping by, schmidtc. Yes so the the battery was replaced by David White in Cambridge shortly before I bought the synth and there were no visible leaks or corrosion when I opened her up. I got my hopes up after reading your post about the Tape switch Adamstan, because before I ...

Re: Siel DK 600 not responding, possible OS failure?
Hello again, I opened it up and aside from dust and the odd dead insect everything seemed fine. The connectors were securely seated in their sockets and now I'm not sure how to approach this. Is there a way of reloading the OS on the DK600, or am I asking an awful lot of early 80's technology? Any h...

Re: Siel DK 600 not responding, possible OS failure?
Thanks Maschinengeist, I'll try that. But since it worked for a couple of weeks after the move took place, could loose connectors still be the cause..? I guess opening it up and taking a look will answer that.

Siel DK 600 not responding, possible OS failure?
Hello fellow synth aficionados, My recently purchased and orig. patch loaded DK 600 is acting up, big time. It turns on as usual, but won't respond to any manipulation beyond the "enter" LED blinking when I touch any button. I recently moved it to a new location, but took care to make the move as sm...

Re: Pheonix's synthesisers
I know that in the past ( for their first album, "United") they borrowed synths from both Air and Daft Punk for studio use, among them a CS-60. You hear it all over their records. If that's a snapshot of their CS-80, they've moved up a notch in the CS hierarchy since then...

Re: older first generation lineage VA synths ;)
Id like to hear some examples of NEW (aka something newer than 2003), of new genres of music. I know grime and dubstep are pretty much the new commers this decade, but not soo much of that is analog based at all (dizzie raschal used MTV music generator off of a PS1 for his first album). I can't thi...

We could all also just kick back with a chill pill for a minute and then go make some music on our true vintage analogs/modern analogs/hybrid designs/digital synths/retro-VA's/cutting edge VA's andsofortandsoon...anyone?

Re: Sequencer Software
I'll hoist a cautious flag for Digital Performer. lately I've switched to Logic 8 for most audio tracking & editing, but DP still holds its own really well when it comes to scoring to picture and some in-dept MIDI editing, IMHO. I guess the follow-up question would be more specifically what you plan...
