Need power supply for JV2080.

I have a dead JV2080, :sad2: I checked the fuse, and it is good. Anyone know where I can find a replacement power supply? :help: Thanks.

Re: JUNO 106 , ROLAND XP-50 or ROLAND MKS 70 ...wich one ???

Hideaway nailed it sopt on - I love my Juno 106 but by itself it can be a little thin - I layer mine with the JX-3P's dual oscillators and program my own sounds. The presets were just ok in the 80's - now they sound horrid. I have not had the pleasure to try the MKS-70 - but I would not hesitate to ...

Probably a cold solder joint.

Re: What is your live set up?

2 tier original Apex stand with a Roland A33 controlling the JV1080 for piano & organ and the Alpha Juno 1 on top controlling the JD-990 for synth leads and pads. I like to run 2 channels (stereo) to the FOH or the band's mixer through a small Boss six channel keyboard mixer.

Re: Apple vs. PC

You will be just fine. The main reasons I run PC's is because I like to have the ability to upgrade individual parts (CPU, Memory, Hard drive, Power supply, etc.), I like the modularity (adding kicka55 sound cards and internal recording interfaces, etc.) and I like to tweak parameters (overclock, tu...

Re: Yamaha DX21

I've had mine since '93 or '94 - paid $100 for it. It was my main synth for piano and brass. It complimented my JX-3P that I used for leads very well at the time. It has been collecting dust though for the last 5 years or so since I got a TX81Z for the rack. But I would surely pick up just about any...

Re: The Weirdest Thing Ever!

It just may have been a loose battery connection/solder joint. The battery may have been good, but the connection was (probably still is) bad. And $68 for the battery? Did that include labor or something?

Re: Quality or Quantity?

It's more a matter of funding really. I usually don't (read never)have an xtra 1500 - 2000 to spend on a modern synth. Boy I wish I did. So I end up spending a couple of hundred here and there picking up what I can. I know if I would just save up.................but that's easier said then done.

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?

It's a tie between a Roland SH-2000 and a Yamaha DX-21 for $100 each. I still have the DX-21, but somehow I managed to lose my SH-2000.:crybaby: It was at my buddy's house in Bellville Illinois, but he moved and now he says he can't find it. :banghead: I have moved 3 times since I seen it last. It w...

OK - I believe I have found the problem to be a bad voltage regulator - I have ordered a new one from Digi-Key and I am now patiently waiting. I had to pull it out of circuit to check it properly - I sure hope this is the culprit - I can't wait to fire this thing up and get it integrated into my sys...

So far I have only used a Huntron to check for obviously bad signals - But that is really only effective if I have a good board to compare it to (other than finding the short) - I have a good signal now through the diode and the short is gone - I will have to apply power and check the voltages out o...

Thanks everyone! There is no output at the connectors - I don't know for sure but I think it supposed to put out 3.6 vdc The regulators were the first thing I checked - that's how I found the dead short accross the zener The caps are always a good possibility - I'll have to pull them out of circuit ...

Yeah, but it's a zener diode - so I guess that makes a difference - I took it out of circuit and tested it - dead short from one side to the other - I thought it would be open as well but no - it was reduced to being nothing more than a jumper. It caused a short between the outer legs of transistors...

Help with power supply on JV-2080 - UPDATE

OK, so I got what I thought was a good deal on a JV-2080 with a couple of expansion cards installed......I knew before hand that it would not power up - wishful thinking on it just being the fuse on the power supply board - so I took ou t the ps board and found a bad zener diode - dead short accross...

Well, if I like it, there is a reason. But I would have to say that if I haven't played it - I shouldn't have a reason to like it. So I guess my answer would be: All the synths that I want that I haven't played - and that would be any synth I don't have. I love my JX-3P - esp now that I have a...
