Re: New Elektron Gear?

though lovely to dream, i predict pitchforks and fires when everyone realizes it's just a 10 celebratory party. elektron has always, always, always, left clues and bread crumbs before they drop new products. i'd love to see a new product too but i'd be surprised if we see something in the next six m...

There is a Richard Devine interview/feature over at www.elektron-users.com. Tons of exclusive studio pics, insight into his world, and a collaborative Devine vs. Jeswa track!

Yes, I understand, but it still has a digital sheen or crispness to it IMHO. It isn't the same as having an analog filter in the signal path or 12 bit converters...which is why the SP1200 supposedly sounds different...or at the very least, less digital. Bit reduction does not always equal warmth IM...

I did find a website that compared the S950 the MPC 2000xl and the SP-1200. What they did was sample 6 or 7 drum breaks into each machine to see the difference between the three machines the S950 and 2000xl werent noticably different (which actually kept me from getting an S950) but there was a hug...

this is a good point. i just meant midi'ing up the S950 to the MDUW. the are emu racks out there that will give you the 12bit SP grit. not saying it's like a SP1200 but will save you serious dollars.

...no matter what you do. this is not entirely true for User Waves engine. Resampling does reduce the bit rate. as the more your Resample and use up your memory the worse, or better given your perspective, the sample quality becomes. you can then load the resampled or degraded verion into a ROM ban...

the machinedrum itself is still just the machinedrum. some like its sound, some don't. the User Wave adds a lot of functionality. not only can you resample and tweak within but you can load or sample into the ROMS. the sample engine is 12bit. it's not as nasty and warm as the EMU SP series but defin...
