Re: MIDI controllers for piano and synths?
Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I don't really need a midi controller with a hammer action keyboard, but I would not mind having the feel of a piano keyboard. The AKAI you mentioned looks fine, but that's a bit too over-powered for me, I don't need those many knobs and sliders. I will check more item...

MIDI controllers for piano and synths?
Hello, I'm looking for a midi controller that works perfectly with Logic Pro X. I will mainly play piano vsti, but also orchestral sounds and synths. More specifically: -49 keys (37 if the controller is really amazing) -I play piano so, ideally, weighted. If not weighted, I'd like a very good respon...

Re: New song out! 80's Scritti Politti/Madonna/Thompson Twin
Hi, I'm listening through the headphones and I must say that the mix is still wrong, same reasons above: honestly it's painful to my ears. End of the bad news. ;) The most important thing is that the song is very nice and, despite the bad mix, it sounds like a "modern 80s" song. I'm very coriuos to ...

Re: Synthpop montage - 80s Mellow Instrumental
Same impressions as the other time, everything is in the right place, but I think that this new track is even better for me, more inspiring. Nice pictures too.

Re: Track with an Akai Ax60
here's another track I made for the "one underrated synth" contest. Although it's inelegible because I used a delay. http://soundcloud.com/mattplanner/struck-down-by-a-rubber-axe soundcloud page I like this second one, crazy bassline! Everything else is ok but I think that a louder arpeggio would b...

Re: Synthpop 80s Inspired Instrumental Theme
I think that both tracks couldn't be more 80s than what you did. They could have been the soundtrack of movies such as "Weird science", "The breakfast club", "The wizard", "Karate kid" and so on, I loved that cheesy films. The 2nd one is stucked in my head since 2 days, not bad at all. I thoug...

Re: Sega Megadrive FM anyone?
FM is, in short, a b***h. In long - Its an easy synthesis method to understand but Yamaha's implementation of user interface is absolute garbage. I can fluently program my DX9 now via said front-panel interface but I still find it much easier to program a MegaDrive with a GUI infront of my face on ...

Re: Sega Megadrive FM anyone?
The chip inside the Mega Drive is a 6voice Yamaha 4op OPN2 FM synthesizer - The YM2612. Its the same chip (or similar) to the ones used in the DX21 and the DX100. The DX100/21 can load patches from the YM2612 and vice versa. So almost anything you can do on a 4op DX synth you can do on the MegaDriv...

Re: Sega Megadrive FM anyone?
Nice tracks and very good sounds too.
I didn't know that the chip inside the Mega drive had such huge basses, not to mention the wonderful cutting lead in the second track.

Re: Synth examples, post them here.
I have recorded two Roland Sh-2 demos. Sh2 demo This one is a 6:30 minutes demo: it's just a bass sequence with some random changes. Sh2 Rio This is one is a short excercise, I made it just for fun. I was trying to reproduce a fragment of the 3 famous arpeggios from Duran Duran's "Rio", with and wit...
