Re: triple synth stands
I have a triple synth stand with small synths (DSI Mek & Bass station II) and desktop synths. I just use a Ikea Shelve EKBY something wooden not varnished so it has friction so synth don't slip with the angle of the tier stand. Works Great and let me put 2 desktop synth and a small keyboard synth in...

Re: IKEA stolman or similar to store synths
Hi, your are referring to this setup probably. https://i1.wp.com/www.synthtopia.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/ikea-studio-gear.png?fit=690%2C355 I tried the stolmen solution with both the show rack sheet metal shelf and the wooden shelf. I did not find it a viable solution. If it is only to store a...

Re: Roland Boutique
Good point, Desmond, I was wondering that myself. What if the JX and JU are analog DCO synths like the originals? That would certainly make me much less bummed. Small analog poly modules with all those knobs/sliders? Yes, please. At 299$ per synth, having analog circuitry in there is to have unreal...

Re: Alesis Ion problems
Honestly, with time I have found that most of my problems could be solved by : http://www.adorama.com/images/300x300/hod5s6.jpg Fixed my Juno 106, Matrix 1000, MKS-50, rack mount amp scratchy volume pot with that. Fixed my Yamaha A3000V2 and TC Electronic G-Major skipping encoder with that. (Even DS...

Surprised nobody saw it...
http://www.gearjunkies.com/2015/05/the- ... rio-maggi/
Sound it could be digital though, or maybe a mix of digital and analog... Well, we will see.

Re: Looking for a Synth..(Industrial/
Honnestly, if you don't have much money to spend on a synth for industrial music (well any synth can be use for industrial music), I would go for a digital/VA synth. here we go : Cheap Access Virus (any kind) maybe you can get a deal Alesis Ion, Micron, Akai Miniak (easy vocoder access) Novation X-s...

Re: In a Paris music store a few weeks ago...
Being myself french speaking, well most of the time, I think the seller was maybe anticipating an another "analog is better, the original is better, blah blah blah" debate with you. And his reply was indeed a cartesian reply. If 99% or even 90% of the people, when hearing the drum machine cannot dis...

Re: Roland Aira System 1--SonicState review vid
I think it is an other missed opportunity from Roland. The only company that thrived on making profits on selling plugins for a DSP platform is Univeral Audio with the UAD. Creamware are gone and TC Electronic abandoned it's platform. Imagine a well laid out control surface, with or without a keyboa...

Re: Can anyone identify these racks?
the bottom one would be a Digitech Quad V2 :
The missing middle one could be a FS1R with the knobs missing
Do I level up on my gear spotting skills ?

Re: DSI PRO 2
Looks and sounds great. I still have to hold out for my pre-ordered Moog Sub 37, but this Pro 2 will be next for me. And it seems it will go great with the forthcoming Dave Smith Modulars ... You did all notice that in the video right? https://scontent-a-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/t1.0-9...

Re: How to know what synthesizer to keep.
You know, since you are using a computer (assuming that you use the arturia software), to replace your CS6X, it doesn`t have to be necessarily an hardware keyboard. Software VST can do the work as well for bread and butter sounds. Rompler software like Steinberg Hypersonic, Refx Nexus 2 are pretty u...

Re: Kawai K5000 Synthesizer
I had a K5000S... It is indeed one of the most beautiful synth I have ever had. The build is great, the keybed is the nicest semi-weigthed to be ever put on a synth period. However the reason for selling it was the sound engine. I love additive synths. But programming them from hardware or through S...

Re: I don't understand the demand for monosynths?
Actually, the demand is for analog synth whatever the polyphony. And with a good sound too. And given the price point, monosynth are obviously cheaper to produce with discrete components than polyphonic synth. In the 80ies what made the polyphonic analog synth accessible was the CEM and SSM chips wh...

Re: Anybody got any insight into the Oberheim Matrix 6?
I concur with Z on all points. And used the Matrix 1000 (same thing as a Matrix 6) for pad stuff, weird noise and velocity sensitive stuff. It is a deep analog synth in terms of modulation capacities. But if you want something that you can program, I would rather go to DSI prophet 08, Tetra, Mopho X...
