Re: Akai X7000 Disk Drive Repair
Try YouTube. There are plenty of videos regarding fixing belts on the Japanese Super Famicon systems, which use 2.8" quickdiscs - here's a link to one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOY1G3Sg11Q I've got a S700 that needs a new drive, but at the moment I'm sending samples back and forth via midi to...

Re: Which Was Jarre's Coolest Synth?
not a synth per-se but I always loved the sound of the Eminent. That's what got me hooked in the first place, and it's all over the first two (and best (IMO)) albums.

Re: Guess the synths...
Hmmm, I'll stick my neck out and say that it sounds like plenty of Prophet 5 in tracks 2 and 3. You'll have to tell us the composer at the end Micke. 8)

Re: Name the synth AGAIN
I'm going for the Prophet 10 as it sounds similar to the metallic timbres Alan Howarth was getting on the Halloween 2 soundtrack..

Re: now that some time has passed, new macbook vs white one?
I bought a white macbook almost a year ago (2.13ghz, 1gig ram) and it's been brilliant. I'm running Logic Studio, Live 7, and Pro Tools 8 le with no problems, it's happily running 3 daisy chained firewire drives and about 6 USB devices too. With the bigger RAM option of the newer white models and th...

'The Fog' is a great film but I don't think even JC would agree with that commentkulten wrote:by the way, I always say that "Halloween" was just a rough copy and "The Fog" is really his first great film.

What a great thread Micke...
For my money 'Prince of Darkness' is my favourite - lights off, volume up, chills galore... 8)
Do you know where those pictures for the EFNY/Halloween 2/3 sessions were taken? I always assumed they where in JC's house.

Re: VA Softsynth vst's or Virus TI?
I suggest you try out Lennar Digital's 'Sylenth' which is amazing. It's had favourable comparisons to a Virus and at the moment there's a Xmas special where you can get it for 79 euros. Check out the demo's - http://www.lennardigital.com/modules/home/

You can't go wrong with D16 - Their stuff is great. It's a bummer about the group buy as Drumazon's the only bit of kit I don't have yet

Re: Any Akai s1000/s1100 owners? I need some help
It's not just the scsi id numbers - Zip 5 , S1100 6. You need to change the hard drive id numbers as well under the disk menu so that the Akai can ref the external drive. I've got a S1100 going through two scsi hard drives, a zip, a CD-Rom and a Jaz drive, ending into a G3 mac (OS 9) where I edit my...

Re: d16 Phoscyon, Nepheton & Drumazon
I've got Nepheton and Phosycon. They both sound amazing (which is the point). And I've just bought their new phaser plugin too. I thing the only downside with their products is the patch creation and editing which isn't exactly intuitive. It would be nice if with Phoscyon, you could transpose a runn...
