Re: Bit-depth in sampling. Yamaha Tx16W

I have a question, maybe it's quite obvious but..not for me.. If i have a sampler, Yamaha Tx16W in this case, can i record the sound from it to my PC when i'm pre-listening to the sample-input, or must i have the sound recorded and saved on a disk and then record that in to my pc to get the 12-bit ...

Re: MPC 60 chopping & Pad Hold

So... All the samples I've loaded onto my MPC 60 so far have pretty much sounded perfect without further editing, even though there's a variance between sample length & sampling time. Is there something I'm missing here ? I've never actually used the MPC60, but if you mean the fact that each indivi...

Re: best 'choir' patches?

Does anyone else find choir patches unsettling? I have 3 of 4 different collections of mellotron choir samples, and an e-mu emax with the "mixed choir" factory disk... from what I can tell, these samples are recordings of actual zombies.

it seems yes, I was worried that this would require the EPROM upgrade, which allows you to even use s1000 program data, makes me wonder if the peavey can recognize akai format\ted disks that might be a faster way to drop wavs into the machine

Re: sending wavs to a peavey dpm sp rack?

Ha! I got it, Im using the MIDI sample dump from an akai mpc2000. This takes forever to transfer, but once its sent it can be easily stored by the peavey on whatever attached scsi drive.

sending wavs to a peavey dpm sp rack?

Does anyone have any tips? I have a abunch of sample conversion software, none of them can change wav into a peavey format. I have an scsi drive and I understand how to set that up correctl. ...I know there is an upgrade eprom chip I can buy which will allow me to use the sample format for akai S100...

I need a cheap midi controller

I've got some mpc patches im very fond of, just sounds ive made in chromatic steps I use for adding melodies. It kinda gets in the way that I can only trigger 16 sounds though, what I want is either the cheapest midi keyboard, or something like this would actually be most ideal: http://monome.org/de...

Re: Good mellotron multisamples?

Haha yeah, I know one Norwegian band recorded bees, transposed in every key and put it into a mellotron. Good luck finding those.. http://tv.sonicstate.com/play.php?vid=328 it actually sounds pretty good! So I've kinda been obsessing over this lately, Im considering purchasing something so I ...

Re: Good mellotron multisamples?

ok nevermind, if anyone's interested there are a handful of torrents out there to satiate your mellotron needs. Im not sure if its ok to post links to them, but its easy enough to just google for yourself. Its kind of interesting listening to them all, if these are the authentic mellotron sounds, it...

Re: are the terms bandwidth/Q/resonance interchangeable?

thats whats confusing me, some articles I've been reading say these are all terms that refer to different aspects of the same effect, steeping the frequency range with which the filtering happens at, so if a knob is labelled "bandwidth" on a filter, it may as well be responsible for increasing/decre...

are the terms bandwidth/Q/resonance interchangeable?

maybe a dumb question, I'm confused though, it seems I was expecting there was a way to widen or tighten the bandwidth without applying feedback, is this possible? or is bandwidth control just feedback anyway? also, while we're at it, I have a separate question, i was attempting to ring modulate two...

Re: A Daft Punk "How'd they make that sound?" Thread

there's a patch on one of the digitech rp multis called "yaya" which sounds exactly like someone saying "ya" the patch is just one LFO sweeping both a filter cutoff and flanger delay time. maybe daft punk has patches something similar with analog gear to get their synths more vocal? (at least for th...
