I started with software… but when it came time to find a keyboard, I opted for a synthesizer instead of just a midi controller. I went for the Fizmo since they were dirt cheap at the local music store at the time (I think I bought their last one) and my budget was very limited.

Should be just like controlling the pitch on any analogue modular VCO… as Stab Frenzy said, frequency knob. It’s not really much different than any other variable analog controller. Like using a ribbon controller, or a Theremin, or just about anything else without keys.

I failed to realize that the Doepfer module didn't do gates, so looks like I'll be ordering the RS300.

Thanks for the input.

Choosing a CV to Midi converter

I find myself in need of a CV to Midi converter… specifically one that can handle both gate/trigger to note on-off midi data as well as CV to midi note value. I've been thinking about the Analogue Systems RS300, but the Doepfer A-192 looks like it might do the job as well… Anyone have any experience...

In Highschool I hadn't even begun to be interested in synths so my gear at the time was a big fat ZERO. but I'm making up for lost time as quickly as I can!
