Re: Moog MP-201
Do you run a sequencer with your mono/poly? Not yet, but I plan to. I have bought a Kenton midi/cv converter. Just never got around to learning how to use it. Damn thesis is taking up too much time... I'm more of a guitarist than a keyboardist, so my main reason for buying the MP-201 would be to ge...

Re: Moog MP-201
That's Right! The Mono/Poly uses the volts/octave as opposed to the volts/hertz standard, doesn't it! Never thought about that. Wow, this makes the MP-201 even more interesting! The Mono/Poly is my favourite synth of the ones I own.

Bump!
Same question again. I understand it's been available for a while now. Any opinions so far?

Re: My "New" Toy Is Here! =)
Congratulations Box. I have to give that demo of yours a listen. I had the opportunity to purchase a JX-3P + PG-200, local pickup, for $ 350 earlier this year. I was tempted but I just have not been GASing for synths for about 8 months. I think that may be due to the fact that I have covered all the...

Re: midi2cv for ARP Odyssey mk3
I own an Oddy MkII and a Kenton Pro Solo MkII but have not had the time to try them out together yet. However, the Kenton manual states explicitly that it is compatible with ARP synths like the 2600 the Odyssey and the Axxe.

Re: Quality or Quantity?
Just like AG I've done a bit of both, but the other way around. I started out buying medium to expensive synths (Mono/Poly, ARP Odyssey, Axxe+Little Brother, CR-78) and then decided I would scour the local ads for cool but cheapish synths and got my D-50, EPS-16+, S950, etc. Haven't had time to wrap...

Re: Looking to start producing electro, house, ...
Do you plan to record your stuff? In that case, you'll need a good computer, preferably with several 100ds of GB. Also a good sound card with Midi in & out. Does your PA have a usb port? You will also need to invest in some decent software like logic or cubase. As for synths, there are plenty of fre...

Re: Warm/cold subjectivity
There was a thread like this here on VSE about a year ago. I believe it was Jexus who wanted to write synth reviews based on expressions like warm, cold, fat, etc. I'm going to do now what I did then and recommend two books: 'The Concept of Expression' by Alan Tormey and 'Mind and Art' by Guy Sircel...

Mr Friden! Does this look like Sound Production ? Off to that forum it goes... Well, in the state I'm in at the moment (trying to re-write my entire thesis in one week) everything looks the same, so I really couldn't tell. I removed my glasses earlier today thinking they needed to be polished but s...

Moog MP-201
Anyone planning on getting one of these? I recently bought three Moogerfoogers (MF-101, 102 & 103) and was about to buy a whole bunch of expression pedals when I realised this one was on its way. Adds a lot of cool new functions too! Should save me a lot of floor space (soon to be taken up by more M...

I'm afraid I only have their albums on vinyl. By the way, I forgot to mention I saw 'Macbeth' by Theatre Scheherazade back in 1985. Twice a Man did the music for that production. It was a brilliant theatric event. I wasn't aware of that Gasleben ran a synth-shop, that's news to me. He ran the...

Yes indeed, Twice a Man is probably the greatest Swedish contribution to the world of synth-pop. I stumbled upon Karl Gasleben's page on the tube a couple of months ago and got all nostalgic. However, I thought they released 'Girl' from Works on Yellow as a single? Wasn't there a promo vid fot that ...
