Re: Korg Might Be Up To Something.
The only problem with the 2600/moddy-Oddy idea is that if they don't keep the price down there's precious little it would offer that the TTSH doesn't already. ...other than having to DIY a complete TTSH together. Many folks don't want to buy wicked-expensive PCBs and Panels, build up the whole thin...

My guess: sample-based synth of some sort.
I'm likely way wrong. I can't be bothered to give a toss, I'm broke anyhow.

Re: Alesis Ion problems
This sounds less like hardware issues, and more like firmware. I'd start with a factory reset of the machine to see if there's not something in the machine's configuration that's corrupted. This just resets any configuration parameters to default, which might clear up your problems (other than the s...

Re: kawai sx-240 on ebay for lols
While it's fun to have a laugh at some random eBay seller, The SX 240 wasn't too terrible a machine. I can think of many, many worse. Also, While it is an extraordinary price, they do have "make offer" listed as an option - so I'd probably chalk this up to someone trying to get best dollar for somet...

Re: Software help for a newbie.
The Analog Lab has all the factory presets of the various plugins; the V-Collection is the entire range of plugins - with patches and the ability to create new patches. The Analog Lab, is simply a 'preset player' of sorts. You can tweak the presets to some degree, but are limited to that. Note that ...

Arturia comes to mind immediately. I think they hit literally every base you're requesting in their V Collection... http://www.arturia.com/products As well as G-Force; their software emulations are also quite nice... http://www.gforcesoftware.com/products If you're looking for more sample-based inst...

And everyone should be wearing unicolored leotards by now. With pointy bits on them. Where's my jetpack? https://i.imgur.com/tlkpLIS.jpg All joking aside, things have worked out pretty well. It doesn't feel like such a long time ago that I had a SUN Sparcstation 20 for a workstation (which had dual...

Re: "Affordable" Modern Synth Showdown
Ultranova. Compact, amazingly deep, great sound. I wish I had more time with one to get into it deeper. Runner up if you had space: Sledge. For me the downside is that it's all a big heap of elongated plastic. I guess I expected some heft to it. But then it is light and will gig easier than say, dra...

Re: Whats your current computer setup like?
I really wish someone would make a distro for content creators. Fedora Studio: https://spins.fedoraproject.org/jam-kde/ Ubuntu Studio: http://ubuntustudio.org/ It seemed easy enough to get around in, and all I just cant imagine it as a desktop OS. But Ubuntu Desktop is exactly that. Fedora Desktop....

Re: Whats your current computer setup like?
While you are able to run Bitwig, Reaper and a couple other things on Linux, it is still a PITA for ordinary folks to use. Just the way that mundane things like updates and hardware are handled in Linux can be pretty opaque to most people. Even an easy to use distro has a learning curve. It is easy...

While certainly promising, that doesn't account for newer 11 series machines. Perhaps that will be remedied later? One can certainly hope.Stab Frenzy wrote:MacBook Pro SSDs are upgradable. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/ ... rnal-Flash

Re: Whats your current computer setup like?
Just wanted to say (putting on my electrical engineer's hat) that Apple's move to disable upgrading memory and drives is due to shrinking the size of the machines not trying to force you into buying only from Apple. The current Mac Book Pros are as thin and light as the original Mac Book Airs and i...
