Re: What We Talk About When We Talk About Synths
For example, my favorite analog synth is the P600. When I write for it, I have in my head that it doesn't do mono but it does do unison The P600 will do mono. Hold one key down and flip the unison mode switch up. Bang! 1 voice mono. It will also do chord memory this way too. Hold down three octaves...

Re: Sequential Circuits logo removal help
Hit it with a hair dryer for a while to try to get the adhesive to loosen up some. To avoid bending it, try using a broad knife (like a wide putty knife) or similar to dig under where the adhesive meets the metal and pry it up slowly, steadily and evenly from bottom to top. It'll spread out the forc...

Just got paid for my CR-8000 from markjazzbassist. He has been a treat to work with and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to others. Thanks! Shipping it tomorrow.

The Yamaha Organ and Korg DSS-1 are on a two-tier stand.
It's a great way to go.

Re: Portable Gear
Good idea, hadn't thought of that. I can't see the brand name on the pic you posted... it's a Schumacher, which is a good brand. They make car battery chargers and the like. Beware cheap, unbranded imports for items such as this. google "Schumacher PP-2200 Portable Outdoor Power Unit" for info on t...

Oops. No random LFO on the MF-102 ring mod. I forgot that's what you were after.

Re: First Analog Synth : Prophet 600?
No Random setting on the LFO. This is a major bummer for me.. But I wonder if it is possible to utilize a modular S&H unit or maybe a Moog CP-251 to add an RND pattern to the CV filter in? That will work. It would be nice to have an external LFO for that purpose given the range of the P-600's is so...

Re: Flipping gear
Flip away, I say. If I see $2000 lying there, (in the form of an undervalued piece that just popped up) I MUST act on it. Be the one loading the f**k in your car while the others debate whether they should call or not.

Re: How often have you accidentally erased a "good" program
I email my sysex dumps to myself when I do backups.
But yeah -- One thing I hate is when I program something I really like and then I can't remember which memory slots are over-writable. I then take a stab at some location and lose another patch that was better. I just need to keep better notes.

Re: I think I hate my Nord Lead 2??
You can save the effects patches you create. then you just need to press one button on the effects unit to change to the effect you want for each song. It's just like a guitarist putting his guitar through different pedals. You just need to ensure that all your synth sounds are roughly the same def...

Re: Roland R8 vs R-70
I have an R-70. R-70 benefits over the R8: Rubber pads instead of plastic, the positional pad (you can assign different parameters to the position on the pad, like pitch, etc.), backlit display, more available ROM samples (R8 needs cartridges to expand the sound set.) R8 over the R-70 8 Individual o...

Re: MS2000R Project
Hmmmm. I happen to have an empty MS-2000 housing that may be well suited for such a project. As far as I know the MS2K rack's guts would probably fit right in there. There are subtle differences in the panel layout (phone jack, "keyboard" mode button, bank and octave selectors) you'd have to work ar...
