Re: Roland Boutique

Having quickly checked my gear, 20mm-travel sliders can also be found on the CSQ-600 (portamento), Boss GE-7b (and other Boss EQ compacts), and Moog MF-105 MuRF. The ones on the Moog are decent enough. If Roland have used good quality sliders, 20mm, although small, is not unworkable. EDIT: I have a ...

Re: Moog Mother 32 Eurorack synth voice

Yeah it has some patch points, but nothing much that isn't already available on their other monos. The key to the patch points, however, being that you can interface this with other patchable gear, which is something you can't do with the Phatties beyond the most basic inputs (1 each for vco, vcf, ...

Re: Analogue polysynths with no digital control

Not so, I think. From what I can see, the 6 and 60 voices are almost identical, and different to the 106. The 6 and 60 share the master clock driven by mixed CVs, the main difference being the scanning of the panel. Interesting that the 106 does things an a CPU level though. I've long been a fan of ...

Re: Analogue polysynths with no digital control

Not all DCOs are exactly the same, but in the case of the Juno as mentioned above, there is no stepping in the pitch adjustment. Erm, the 106 has portamento. And both the 60 and the 106 have a pitch bend lever. The values from those are scaled and added to the counter value for the basic note for e...

Re: Analogue polysynths with no digital control

1) Do all analogue polys use multiplexing to control multiple voices from one interface, or are there some that link all parameters on all voice boards directly to the interface? Does the Yamaha CS range do this? Without multiplexing, you would need one full set of controls for each synth voice. Th...

Re: Analogue polysynths with no digital control

It's not so much that a synth has n number of voices, more that patch storage relies on the digitization of analogue parameters. The Juno 6, for example, is a 6-voice analogue synth with, yes, DCOs, but those oscillators are driven by a voltage that feeds the same kind of sawtooth generator you get ...

Re: Goodbye Minimoog Voyager

To be fair, that's a good production run and it's probably time to change. I doubt they'll be abandoning the quality mono market, and I also doubt they'll only stick with the Sub 37, which was supposed initially at least to be a 'limited' run. It'll be interesting to see what they do next.

Re: LinnDrum Kick EPROM - Is Mine Dying?

The LinnDrum kick is filtered with a CEM 3320, the cutoff of which is swept by an evnelope generated from a 556 and op-amp. If you hear aliasing and no other glitches, perhaps its the filtering that is going awry.

Re: Syncing TR-606 to Moog Source with V-trig -> S-trig cabl

Old thread, I know, but I thought it might be useful to add that when the 606 batteries are low, the LT or HT trigger outputs may not be strong enough to trigger external gear in themselves, but an interim solution till better power can be sourced is to layer the triggers with an accent. I've found ...

Re: Triggering a LinnDrum and Pro One Simultaneously - MIDI/

I'm suggesting that if your DAW can auto-quantize the transients of recorded audio to its tempo grid, then you can do the actual triggering however you like - MIDI notes, LinnDrum sequencer, drum replacement via audio triggers, whichever. Record the audio, then tighten it.

Re: Triggering a LinnDrum and Pro One Simultaneously - MIDI/

Like I said, the LinnDrum has five audio triggers you can allocate. You could design your drum part using temporary samples/sounds, and route them out to the audio triggers on the Linn for drum replacement. Or, if your DAW has the ability to detect transients and auto-lock them a tempo grid, you can...

Re: Triggering a LinnDrum and Pro One Simultaneously - MIDI/

Yep. If you want it that tight, MIDI has inherent problems. First of all there's the transmission stage: you have to guarantee whatever source you're using can transmit simultaneous MIDI messages. Then there's the receiving end: each individual bit of kit would need to respond to and process MIDI at...
