Re: Is a Yamaha Tyros a synthesizer?
Analog Synthesizer. Digital Synthesizer. Synthesized Sound Player. Some keyboards allow to play synthesized sounds while not being synthesizers. A synthesizer allows to synthesize: sounds, alloys, plastics. A machine that creates pieces of plastic doesn't synthesize plastic, just uses it. A rompler...

Re: Roland JX3P and PWM
Weird statement by "Automatic Gainsay", if it is the real Marc Doty, sure he worked at Moog at the time, but still. That kind of argument sounds like something coming out of the fingers of someone, that save up to a Minimoog Model D, and justified the purchase by it being the ultimate synth. Since ...

Re: Just received a Korg Sigma for free!!
Congratulations. Although it does have limitations the Sigma can still produce some awesome sounds, especially when using the 'Ring Mod'. I wouldn't part with mine ever.

Re: One synth songs
Here's a song I did a while back using a Korg MS-10 for everything. (I already posted this some time ago for a similar thread I seem to recall).

Re: Waldorf Quantum - new 8 voice hybrid poly
Looks & sounds interesting. Price is a bit steep, but if it's better build quality & less bug-ridden than other Waldorf stuff it could be tempting.

Re: Analogue Additive Synthesizer
I have a poly800 and it is basically an organ with envelopes and a filter. Take those away and it is no different than the Conn organ in the living room. Take any synth, remove all modulations and filtering, set the EG to a gate and it sounds like an organ. Yeah baby yeah ! https://www.youtube.com/...

DX7's aren't super clean. They are artifact riddled and noisy. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing.nameless wonder wrote:the sound design was very likely to sound closer to a DX7 too - super clean.

Novation Ultranova. Covers an immense sonic spectrum, so techno & minimal no problem. For the price nothing comes close.
