Re: Reverb, can anything sound this good?
I have the minuscule Mooer ShimVerb pedal that, as the name implies, does a shimmer-ish 'verb (as well as somewhat passable room and spring emulations) - no doubt it's not as lush or as sophisticated as the BigSky, but can't really fault this box I paid 30 euros of... And of course if plugins are an...

Re: Recording a synth with multiple outputs.
One more thing, I seem to remember reading that some interfaces can't record through all of their inputs simultaneously. Can this record through all eight at the same time? EDIT: Actually that would make no sense, silly question!? I seem to remember there have been some units like this, but pretty ...

Re: Why are Casio CZ synth prices so high?
I had put up my CZ-5000 on Craigslist last year, for a few months, listed it at $200 but nobody even inquired. It is tedious to program, but yeah, you can get cool sounds out of it. Tedious to program is a bit of an understatement, imo - which is essentially why I sold mine. It does sound great, bu...

Re: Help me identify this synthesizer
There's also a bunch of combo organ models called "Diamond" from Italian manufacturer CRB. Couldn't find that exact model, but there are a lot of those (and many of them share a similar layout) and no definitive documentation. Could be there just for the video.

Re: software synth that sounds like vintage Roland synths
You could also try U-he's free Tyrell (which is, if not exactly a clone, at least heavily Juno 60 "inspired") or the gorgeous Diva which includes several, um, approximations of the famous Rolands (although again not direct clones).

Re: Brand new to synth and stuff
Mac instruments are RTAS. RTAS is actually the proprietary plugin format for Pro Tools plugins - the PC Pro Tools plugins are RTAS plugins as well. AudioUnit (AU) is the Mac-only plugin format & a .dll file doesn't really say anything about which plugin protocol the file might be (ie. VST, AU, RTAS).

...except this doesn't actually have a real SID in it. It's an emulation (more specifically the SwinSID ). I think it originally meant to have the real thing in it, but I guess they ran out of a reliable source or something. Apparently the emulation is pretty good though, and there's a spare socket...

Re: looking for a MIDI Interface....NI?
What kind of budget are we looking at? If you're happy with the quality of the Firestudio, I'd just get a pure MIDI interface instead of another audio interface with MIDI - it can be tricky to get two ai's working at the same time. I'm using a MOTU Microlite for my hardware synths; no frills, no pro...

Also Redmatica's Autosampler, but it's no longer available as Apple bought the company - which of course may or may not mean that such features might be built into the next Logic.

Re: Vermona synthesizer
"does it have clean piano sound"? An acoustic piano? No, not really - but since it's a synthesizer, you can probably coax a passable e-piano (as in a Rhodes/Wurli) type sound out of it. And since it's monophonic - it means that you can play only one note at a time? Yes. Which of course decreases it...
