Ikutaro Kakhashi RIP

Roland founder has passed away, Considering its still going around after April fools gets me to possibly believe it's true. He brought us many fun and innovative devices. His product helped shape music over the span of his lifetime and had even spawned several genres. http://media.npr.org/assets/img...

Re: The classic Ensoniq sound- best choice?

I don't think that is correct? You can't use the data slider to do it, but you can assign the mod wheel (or pedal, or external MIDI cc) to cutoff and that's continuous and real time... or so I've read. Nope, doesn't work. you either program it into the envelope or re-trigger the key to have a notic...

Re: The classic Ensoniq sound- best choice?

If you get a ESQ-1, keep in mind it cannot sweep its filters unless you program it to do so. Adjusting filters after a note is triggered wont take effect until the note is triggered again. It's my main complaint on the ESQ-1. So unless you're constantly triggering notes, don't expect to pull off fil...

Re: First serious gear for electronic music

As a fellow virus user, I can understand the appeal behind wanting to get a TI. Do keep in mind if you want to use it with anything else USB, you need to get an MTT, This is because it runs on a USB 1.0 circuit that's been beefed to compensate with near real time data-streaming, but it's still a USB...

Re: Ensoniq ESQ-1 - is it supposed to be noisy?

The DCA volume was the problem. Some third party sound designers set the DCA levels over 50, resulting in distortion, sort of like digital clipping when gain is too high. When the levels are reduced to 45 or so, the distortion disappears. The patch still sounds just fine with the slightly reduced D...

Re: Outside sound penetrating 1/4' cables

Synths and transmittable radios are very very similar in design(Going by schematics), not sure about implementation... They both have a source (modulation + a carrier) they use a VFA, a VCA and many of them seem to work like a signal processor in schematics...except there's a whole RF transceiver in...

Re: Junk it or sell it? Ensoniq EPS

Sounds like the damage is pretty much just cosmetic damage, plus a disk problem. Definitely NOT time to junk the synth! Someone out there has an EPS that looks great, but doesn't work who might just swap drives & cases and be good to go (or just have a working disk). I would figure out if the probl...

Re: Junk it or sell it? Ensoniq EPS

Update, after taring my home apart into a massive mess, I found the disks!

Drive works, the original OS disk is...wonky? Maybe I should wipe it and reload the backup disk on it.
device works great.

So now it's working sans those problems.

Also, I have an os 2.49 disk. Haven't tested it yet.

Junk it or sell it? Ensoniq EPS

So In finally open the old sampler up to figure out what is salvagable now that the OS disk died on me (or the 720DD reader) and now I'm considering whether to fix it and sell it, hopefully break it close... Or scrap parts out of it on ebay and hope for the best, or sell it "as is" with a list of wh...

FL Studio and MPC Question.

Can I create a midi file in FL Studio, with automation data and export it to a MPC and use it to control a synthesizer? (Virus TI) I Imagine it'd work, but I'm hoping there's some one out there that's tried this. Does it have to be small midi files like for a set number step loop or can it be a whol...

Re: VSE - Good trader/seller thread

Raito, a new member to this forum had purchased from me, he was very quick with his payment and very patient with my inet issues. But as soon as Paypal confirmed it I had the package on its way. Great buyer, communicates well. Hope I see more business from him in the future. :)

The bands I regularly listen to currently are why I wanted a Virus TI.

Even though about half of them actually use a virus at all anymore.

>Virus A Yeah, you can pull that bass off easily with a virus A. Sounds like a 2 oct arpeggio, going up, virus arp pattern 52 at 1/16 going with slight hf sweeps, with high resonance on it also Try creating a Saw/PWM as your main sound I was able to recreate it using the init patch. I fattened it up...

Re: EMU E4 loud pop while turning it on/off.

The problem is that you're powering it up wrong. Look in the manual, the correct power up procedure will be outlined, ie always power up in the direction of the signal flow. It's not that hard to do it right, much easier than complaining about it online. :thumbright: Stabbys right, you risk blowing...
