Re: SH-201 vs. JP-8000

If that's your criteria, then the Alesis Ion is definitely worth a look. They seem to sell for a bit less than the JP-8000 and they are a much deeper synthesizer. I have not personally had the chance to play around with one, but a lot of folks on this board like them (as a search should reveal). Yah...

Re: SH-201 vs. JP-8000

I've played them both, although not side by side, and my verdict is

JP 80x0... HANDS DOWN.

Sh201, despite their claim its the same sound engine, doesn't sound even half as powerful, and is build cheaply (god awful knobs).

Re: Akai and the joy of lo-fi sampling

Okay... that brings me to a question:

What do I get from running audio through the s700, and having it output, without sampling. Its not like the sampler downsamples it on the fly. Is it like a clear line right through the device, or does it grunge it up some?

Akai and the joy of lo-fi sampling

Wow.. well, just picked up an Akai s700 in pretty good shape.. disk drive doesn't seem to be working though, but I have a quick disk. When i try to load from disk, it just hangs and makes a loud noise... ah well. Anyways, was never able to get a direct demo of that low-fi crunch before buying it.. B...

Re: The Elektron Machinedrum Thread

Maybe once a month or so I get into a Machinedrum fever and I read up all about it, check out pictures, demos, videos, mp3s.. the works... and then cry over not having the cash to order one. Some time goes by and I simmer down, but eventually I relapse... and I think this thread just triggered anoth...

Re: All the versions of the Korg MS2000....

First there was the MS 2000 (keyboard) and the rack version without keys and wheels, MS2000R. A couple years down the road, Korg decided they'd wanna release the new and improved Ms2k. When i saw the announcement, i jump for joy, in hope that they increased polyphony.. but, no. The MS2000B and BR ar...

JP8k for sure. Or if you dont mind 4 voices of polyphony, try the nord lead 1 (or spend a bit more for a 2!)
