Ah therein lies my one gripe about the splendidly cheap and cheerful keystation. Why the h**l arent the MIDI functions labelled above the keys? I mean theres plenty of room for Pete's sake. (not you, the other Pete) You have to refer to the manual from which the diagram is missing! Guess I should ha...

This might sound really obvious but have you tried turning it off and back on again? I know that resets the keystations to defaults. Not sure about the oxygen though.

I dont find it especially cumbersome but the way I have it set up is that from synth to synth the knobs generally control the same parameters. For example the same two knobs are always control filter cutoff and resonance, the same group of four control amp envelope and so on. It does take a little s...

You can't tweak knobs on the computer monitor like you can on a real piece of hardware. Not really true anymore. There are several "box-o-knobs" MIDI controllers available that make soft synth tweaking a breeze for very little outlay. It was a revelation when I got mine. I'd find it hard to be with...

76 euro (In most of continental Europe $23,999.95 would be written 23.999,95) $100 near as dammit. Not all that expensive really. Now I look closer it is a bit rough. The wooden pieces are just painted plywood by the looks of it and Im not sure whether he drilled those screw holes or chewed them. Co...

Mandatory drummer joke: How do you know when the drum riser is level? The drool runs out of both sides of the drummers mouth. Thank you I'm here all week. But seriously folks... Take a look here http://www.vtc.com/products/live5.htm The DVD is pretty expensive but there are some great free videos wh...

Fun MIDI controller for KLC

Came across this today. Looks like fun. I'd love to see it done with a full sized keyboard although that would be a much larger project. I might try it myself if I didnt have the kind of soldering skills that result not so much in a finished project as a trip to the local burns unit. Custom MS20i Co...

Wow I hadnt come across Free Alpha before. Cant beat it for the price eh? Even some of the presets are nice. I've spent the last ten minutes jamming with the "lost" patch making stuff that sounds like it could be the soundtrack to a horror movie. Awesome stuff 8)

FWIW I just chucked V Station into Ableton Live to check it out. I was topping out at 13% with nothing else happening on the computer while playing 6 note pads with a reasonably complex patch including effects. Thats on an AMD3200+ with 1GB. V Station is an (apparently very close) emulation of the K...

Can't tell you much about the Evolution but I would suggest you look at the Edirol PCR M50. It has all the features you want and I've been very happy with mine. I like the keys a lot. Definitely a cut above the cheaper M-Audio/Evolution stuff. (Thats not to say their stuff is bad. I have a keystatio...
